CL is going into the shop for some 311,000km service

this is gonna suck. i figure since i don't know the history of the car i'll do the timing belt now. If it was done every 100k i'm 11 over, if it was done every 160k like it should have, i'm 9 under

The list:
timing belt
waterpump
valve clearances
fuel filter
trans fluid change
oil change
wiper blades

gonna go drop it off later. my poor bank account.

I was thinking the same thing lol. i'd try to do as much of that as I could before I sent it in, although most of that stuff looks like it should be done at a shop, I wouldn't mess w/a timing belt or 3.0 water pump in my driveway.

193246miles is the conversion

and if your getting your timing belt done shop or stealership they should do the oil change for you when the do the service! shouldn't run you more than 500 at the stealership!

When I had my first service done (timing, water pump etc) they talked me into a top end engine cleaning for like a 100 bucks... in my mind I was thinking they would actually get in there and clean by hand but I bet they just ran some seafoam style shit through the intake.

lol of course i can do the wipers myself, and yes they are busted.

i can't buy the oil retail so that's the reason for that. it's a nice german synthetic. lol

oh add distributor cap/rotor to that list.

fyi the valve clearances are 5hrs book time, so i'm looking at like 1200 for everything.

valve clearances = readjusting all 24 valves back to oem spec, getting rid of any play.

it's a gravel driveway at that. no creaper + high chance of loosing dropped nuts/bolts = ftmfl

inorite.

so add to the list:

valve cover gaskets - carved em out of the valve covers myself, fell/trip/lost balance and hit the trans stand behind me.
intake manifold gaskets
one of the timing belt pullies, the cheaper one, the other one is "ok"
spark plugs

i hope it's done so i can go to work friday at 11am.

so far no back ordered parts for once.

oh yeah, he was also telling me that the motor is goofy. like the timing belt he ordered doesn't fit other 3.x's something like there's 90' v6 blocks and 60' ones. lol, another random fact; the sparkplug placement on the 3.0 heads are so different from his odyssey's that if we swapped motors he'd never get the plugs out.

lol, let me clarify. we could get the plugs out of the 3.5 swapped into my car, but not the 3.0 swapped into his odyssey. :p

oh add accessory drive belts, they looked original. i think my car was not very well taken care of before i got it.

lol, it was a hypothetical observation mostly.

but i now have an extrememly smooth and quiet 3.0 now

parts was about 800 and labour was 700, plus taxes. so $1745.10cad total
guess i'm keeping it now, fuck. now everything has been replaced in teh last 2yrs.

i could write it all out if you guys are curious to the breakdown and all the parts that went in.

i got 10% discount too.

wow, some major service right there, i wanna get a bunch of stuff done to mine too, but i don't have any days off during the week to take it in, and i don't really feel like taking a day off, and go to pay the stealership at the same time.
might have to do most of the stuff on that list aswell soon, but i got a 2.x so hopefully it'll be cheaper
glad you got her running smooth tho, gotta get it in shape for these hot summers in Canada

I've been through the same thing. Everything on my car has been replaced since I've owned in starter, alt, clutch, TB, water pump, plugs, wires, dist, basically full suspension, cat > back, calipers, brakes, etc. If you're planning on keeping the car it's gotta be done.

I made the decision to keep the CL for at least another 5 years so it's worth it.

Yup and being in the mid-west it's even more worth it since it's nice to have a unique car and most people around here don't even know what it is.

nice - got a number? i'm in Mississauga now so i'll have to drive a bit, but I really haven't found anyone around here that knows much about the f22b1's...and like you, i'm over 300,000kms so i'm probably gonna look at doing some serious engine maintenance...

Good stuff, keep it running strong

There is an old Honda Accord (2nd gen, 83-85) which parks around my house with an auto transmission.

It has 470,000 km's on it, which is 300,000 mi.
