hmm, i may not have explained myself correctly, i didn't actually paint them in real life, i used the program "paint" in windows to draw these lines to give myself a visual idea on the computer of what it would looked like if the lines on the grill were to stand out more

Um, sorry, your CAN chrome plastic!!!
But, there is no one in the Bay Area that can do this. Unless, someone started to do it.
It might sound funny, but pick up an issue of Lowrider Magazine and flip through those pages. L.A. should have a bunch of places that can do this. I couple of friends of mine got their plastic pieces in their engines done back in the day from a place in San Jo. It looked good!! That place is now gone, thus L.A. is the place to look.
It's just a total different process than plating metal. The finish isn't quite as durable though.

Real chrome is a layer of metal that is put on as a liquid. Then it dries to a solid coat. Either sprayed or dipped.
Very hot temps.
Never heard of chroming plastic.

Yeah, i know you can have it done. My friend had his grilles on his protege 5 chromed. He sent them out to washington state somewhere. They run electricity through the plastic and it keeps it from warping/melting. I was thinking the same thing about the chrome, the mesh is kinda looking a little too homegrown for me now. Anyone get any info, keep me posted. I think it was kinda pricey though.

Check Mine out...
I painted my grill silver, it sort of matches the chrome. It looks really good to me and is unique. Let me know what you think of it too.

There is a process called metallization which vacuum bonds metals to electronic components. There is a company called Vacuum Metalizing in CA. I work with electronic parts and I've used them for some work related jobs. I belive that they have a commercial process for decorative metalization, which basically means they can put a coating of metal pretty much anything.
But just to give you a heads up, it's probably not going to be cheap. It would be cheaper to get someone to professionally paint it a chrome color.

Of course its impossible to actualy "chrome" plastic, but there is a vacuum plating process that many manufacturers have been using since the 60's(you know typical GM). If you have ever built a model car there was plastic pieces in it that look like chrome, its the same process for our grill. I used to be into 60's muscle cars and there was a well known company that vacuum plates restoration pieces just like the factory did. Here's the link, I don't know what it would cost, or if they would even do it. http://www.mrgusa.com/rechrome.htm
