http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balance_shaft

BUt if ur too lazy to read, it affects your motors Noise and vibration because ur cranks and cams arents all spinning at the same frequency.

3hp gain for some extra noise and vibrations.

If I'm not mistaken, then that would be the reason why you went through 3 h22's (as you stated). I can only assume it would connect to the harmonic balancer and that alone cancels out the harmonic vibrations in the crank shaft. Taking it off, would obviously result in damage to the crank bearings and such.

Question: Do SOME of the H22's have this belt run their oil pump? Anyone know?

some people say yure motor is going to fall apart. thats not true ive done this since day one. and had no probs. the only thing is i over reved my motor 10k on diferent engins and for some reason my flywheel wold come loose. in this case i wonder why? but not a big thing anser to that is light fly wheel no more probs. and tighen bolts up. useing red thredlock.

We're on the same page. I asked what that belt was only because I've never heard of it, but using common sense made me realize what affects it would have. Cant the timing belt skip because of this as well?

Harmonic vibrations intensify after certain speeds. If your motor was built to hit 10k, then messing with the harmonic balance of the engine could be the reason as to why it blew.

Did you forget to tighten the flywheel 3 times? (just curious cause you said you've blown 3 h22's, I know you said you hit 10k, but all 3 times?)

I am by no means trying to bash, or judge you (just so you know in advance). I am simply trying to help us out, and would like for all of us to try and figure out what went wrong with your other 3 engines, and learn how in fact this balancer belt plays a bigger role then others might think.

How much power was truely gained from removing this belt? How long has the engine lasted everytime you've taken it off?

no ive had alot of people tell me your crazy to take it of. but ived noticed that the belt stetches and the balancers are way off of thier timming marks. ive had in the past raced with it on and with a f22 and one day the ballancer was makeing a noise. so i kept driving and all the oil started leeking out.then i lost oil pessure and the and the camshaft broke in two since then ive never use ballencers agin.
