about that, all you have to do is pop out the screw beside the seatbelt connectors, and then pull out the 2 cupholder things, undo the screws in there, then, pop out the ashtray in back of the center armrest, undo the screws in there, then get the 2 support bolts that hold down the console its midway under the armrest. then you can lift up the whole console and pop the clips around the console that hold it to the dash. from here, stand on your head, with a staple remover, and get the 12 staples out from the bottom of that white plastic ring thing around the shifter hole., once the staples are out, remove the 2 screws that hold the white ring thing to the console part... from here, you get the knob off by unscrewing it, (at this point i used a sawzall and cut 3 inches out of my shift rod, and welded the two peices back together, the boot covers all of this later) reasembly is the bitch part...have fun getting staples into the plastic for the new boot, i just used hot glue gun, and then screwed in the white plastic ring, and sqwished it all together and let it dry for a while, you cant see the glue later...and the 2 suppport bolts under the armrest are hard to get back in, they are in an awkward spot...after that your home free, i put in a chrome momo knob and suede boot with a custom 3 inch short shift look, it looks really good, big improvment from stock square knob and nasty black shiny leather.hope it helps, i felt like i was rambling on...-Ben

When I changed my shift boot I had to take out the console, the radio and the glove box just to change the freakin boot. Everything is somehow connected and was a pain in the ass. Plus our boot is stapled at the bottom holding it together, so I just unstapled the bottom and then screwed it in. Bottom line its not a 10 minute job like other whips.
