CF hood is here

Well guys after about a month of waiting for it to arrive it is finally here. I should be installing it on Wed. So far it looks pretty good. It got a couple scrathces on one of corners from shipping. Other than that it seems pretty good. I'll post pics of the install and comment on fitment then. Hope everything goes well.

I don't anticipate too mcuh work. Should be done in about an hour. Simply remove the old hood and grill, install the new hood using all the factory brakets, bolts, shocks etc.

How about the "squirters". Do new ones come with the hood, or will you use the OEM ones?

Any drilling required (mainly for the brackets, but also the "squirters")?

ok.... time to spill the beans on the CF hood.

my friend Steve (1KleenCL) ordered the hood about three weeks ago, and got it in a week.... shipped through Greyhound.

we went to pick it up, and all seemed to be in order except the corners of the hood were a little frayed due to bus shipment.

positives
-the weave seemed preety decent and even.
-the fiberglass understructure was stable and an exact carbon copy of the factory one.
-weightsavings over the factory hood were very noticeable.... it felt about 30lbs. lighter than the factory one .. not kidding either..
-the fiberglass is lined with metal on the inside so that you dont crack the structure when you bolt the hood in, or drill the holes.
-mounting holes were marked

negatives
-does not have rouned edges.... easy to fray the ends and separate them... very unsightly.
-was not predrilled
-has marking for the squirters, but you have to drill through the weave.
-hood would not sit right when mounted one the car......warped understructure.
-grille cut-out is uneven, and the front grille does not fit in properly.
-the biggest thing worng with the hood.... the u-bolt is about a quarter inch too big, so the hood does close down all the way. this makes hood pins a necessity, and another thing you have to go out and buy.

quality:

fitment::thumbsdn:

in conclusion.... good concept, and a good buy if you want to tinker with it to make it fit properly, however not close to oem fitment.

because he wanted to be the first CL w/ a cf hood..... either that or he didn't wanna be your twin anymore

no disrespect to the company tho... i admire them for taking the time to make the CL hood... the u-bolt is the biggest worng with the hood.

You can adjust where the latch is and move the latch further down instead of getting hood pins.

personally i think CF looks best on black and white cars, and anyways, you shouldn't be buying it for the looks, the weight savings are what should matter. You should paint them anyways

OK lets answer some ?'s
Hood cost is $405 shipped through Greyhound.
Quality seems good but no rounded edges.
Fitment don't know yet. I'll most likely weigh the two hoods and let you guys know the difference.
Dust it does not come with the squirter holes. I'll most likely just not have any squirters now. Drilling is required.
Cheez the h22 is coming along ever so slowly. Type S pistons arrive on Thursday after 2 months of waiting for them.

I'll post pics of once I have time to install it. With work I may not have time until the weekend. But it should look nice on my white CL .
