Car won't start sometimes and cuts off
I'm helping troubleshoot my brother's 97 CL 3.0. Car sometimes starts but sometimes doesn't. If you wait like an hour then it'll start. It also cut off on him while he was driving.
We've replaced the Fuel Main Relay and the Ignition switch as well. The problem is every time a take a to a mechanic it runs fine and he said he can't troubleshoot it if everything's running fine.
Ideas?

After i cleaned out the idle air valve and intake manifold I haven't experienced the problem.

Check the IACV and TPS, those are the most common culprits

Had a Chrysler Seabring that did the exact same thing, wound up being the distributor. Unlike these cars the coil pack is separate from the distributor (im pretty sure??). What would happen is that the car would start up fine and after it warmed up it would randomly shut off, sometimes sputter. The coil packs were cracked, when they warmed up and expanded they began to fail. After letting it sit (on the side of the road trying to figure out what the hell was going on) it would sometimes fire right back up after cooling down and contracting. Couldn't figure it out for ever and it drove me crazy. Good luck. Hope the insight helps.

Took it to dealer and they confirmed the CEL lights and said the Gas and Brake lines were rusted. Gas line in particular was leaking. They claim we should start w/ that. My Brother is done dumping money on this thing. He plans on picking up a 03 Acura TL tomorrow.
Thx Guys
