im running a Viper 560XV, basic 4 button, 1 way transmitters w/remote start, i love it
and one suggestion that I have for this is to buy the alarm at a licensed dealer with installers on hand, because theyll charge you an INSTALLED price, if you buy a part from elsewhere they didnt make money off you for the part so theyll rip you apart for labor..... and it does take a decent amount of time to install one of these things
if you buy somewhere cheap you better be doing the install yourself

the python ive herard of, its the same company that does viper, DEI
I got mine in for around 250 + 25 for the added trunk release interface. I got it from a local shop, full authorized dealer, but he was a buddy of mine, either way the lifetime warranty is why you also want to go through a authorized dealer

i have a viper one, it cmes with a screen that tells me when my alarm goes off. They also come with a couple of sensors so you can put one in ur trung and hood and the screen informs you where the alarm was triggered. It also has a two mile redious in the clear it end being a little over a quarter mile in the city. its pretty expensive thought i used to work at best buy so i got a pretty good discount.
i dont know how reliable but people were teling me that viper was the best on the market. but if python comes from the same parent company it should be pretty good. so yea good luck with everything.

Is installing one of these remote starters extremely diffiocult or some one on this forum has actually installed it by himself. I have bought one from Pepeboys I don;t remember what brand I guess it is the viper brand and this has been sitting on the desk for almost a year now and would like to go about installing this. If some one has done this please let me know may be your experinece will help and motivate me to do this.
You can also PM me if you have.
Thankx

well if your good with wiring and you have good instruction i dont think its that hard. I think it works as if your hotwiring car. I got it instaled because i got a discount but i was watching him. There's like a box which is the brain of the system which is connected to the transponder, and from there the guy ran a wire to the ignition wires where the box activates the ignition sequence. It didn't seem that complicated just extremely tedious since the wires have to run to all you doors, windows and stuff.
It might be complicated if you have a stick since they have to put in some sort of bypass for the clutch so it can start without you having to clutch it, most professionals dont really reccomend putting an autostart in a stick, since the car jumps if you have it in gear and you try to autostart it.
Either way i highhly reccomend the two way pager system it comes in handy specially at parties where you cant hear your car and other daily uses.

Hey guys I am getting a Viper 160XV Car starter for Xmas and it costs $250 plus $50 more for the immobilizer bypass module I think..The dude looked it up and said that my 1998 2.3 CL doesn't have a chip in the key but I told him that they did..They do have chips in the key right..?..And If I get this installed do I need an extra key for them to use or no..?..I have heard that sometimes they need an extra key for that bypass module thing..

I have been calling around to get prices on installing a remote start on my car...but everyone I talk to says that they no longer install remote starts on cars with manual transmissions becuase of the liability of the car jumping in car and running over someone....are there any professional installers left that will install this on my car?

I thought I posted, but I guess it didnt go through:
oh well, rither way, there are certain remote starters out there that are made SPECIFICALLY for manuals, I dont know how they work exactly, but they ensure that the car is in neutral....... its one way that a pro will do it for ya, but I hear that those are a pain (like you gotta cshift into 1st then 2nd after turning the motor off and then back to neutral or something)
DEI I think makes a kit thatll adapt a remote start unit to interlock with manuals, again not too sure about it
in the end though itll be hard to find somebody to do it anyways,.......... so that leaves really 2 choices and thats to give it up or do it yourself

Hi,
I recently installed a bulldog remote strater which I purchased from perboys for some thing like $49 (had rebates on it) but had to buy a special bypass module as our key has a transponder in it which was like $20, so $60 for the remote starter and I paid $100 for the install. Works great and also has great coverage. But remember this you will need to sacrifce one of your oem keys to get this baby to work or else you are looking at buying another module which can cost you any where from $50-$75. Basically they tune this module to the key transponder frequency so you dont sacrifice a key. But buying this module will also save you from buying the bulldog bypass module which I stated above for $20.
Your choice. The only problem is that when I use the remote from the remote starter to start/open/close I cannot use the factory alarm remote. it is like this if I use the factory remote to open/close than I have to use the same remote to open/close, and if I use the remote starter remote then I have use the same remote. What I have done is I have stopped using the factory remote the only sacrifice being cannot open the trunk with the remote have to open the car by manually activating the lever to pop the trunk...but I can live that.
Hope this helps.
Thankx
