Do you know which portion of the engine the noise is coming from? And how many miles do you have on you vehicle? One more...did you recently have your belts changed?

I might have a hunch but don't want to jump to conclusions so if you could help me out and answer the questions I could get back to you.

So your saying a rattling right? If it's a loud rattle that can be heard with your engine on and with windows down then for this I can say that it might be your belt tensioner. The belt tensioner has ball bearings in it that do go bad and causes and awful rattling noise. The next time you start your engine look for where the belts are located and pay close attention to where the noise is coming from. Around the pulleys area.

Anyhow, just take it into a dealer to have a quick inspection. The belt tensioner will cost a bit to replace. I'm saying around $150. It's mostly labor though.

Hope this helps you, and try to narrow it down a bit more.
