Ipod is pretty standard just read up on the specs, for the steering wheel controls, you'll need to get an adapter

you can get a decent stereo with ipod connectivity for around $100. or you can go the more expensive route and get one with usb, but you'll need to get an adapter for the ipod and an adapter for the steering wheel controls.

inexpensive, great brand, ipod connectivity. all you need is an adapter for the steering wheel.

IMO, you can't beat Alpine for the Ipod connection... Their USB interface leaves something to be desired, but the Ipod is pretty top notch. I've used it with both the 9884 and 9886 (with the 9886 being my experience with the USB), and they're great. OP, you're going to have a PM coming your way here in a couple minutes about a Pioneer that I just took out of my car. It's a solid hu, with USB support, and a very nice EQ.

All you need with the 6900ub is the Ipod charging cable that has a USB end on it. The other end plugs into the bottom of your Ipod, and you're done. Control everything through the hu...

id reccomend a panasonic. and ill forever love the auxillary in headphone jack. i used to do this shit professionally, and have had the best experience with panasonic. The ipod interfaces on most radios blow if you have a decent amount of music, unless of course its a flip out/touch screen.

you might as well just control it by using the headunit when using the remote. steering wheel controls are nice because you never have to take your hands off the steering wheel.

my kenwood HU has a USB port, but i needed to buy a $50 adapter for my ipod to recognize it. i never bought it, i just put a bunch of music on a 4gb flash drive and flipped thru the music from there.

From what I've heard/seen (not personal experience, keep in mind) Panasonics don't seem to have quality remotes (no pause button). Some people may not mind it, but for SPL comps (like the ones I frequent), that's a must... Also, I have to disagree about Alpine's Ipod interface. When I had my 9884, it was great for scrolling through the tons of music on the Ipod (~25 gigs or so of music). Just go into the menu to the point where you're ready to pick artist/song/whatever and push one of the numbered buttons (1-6). It scrolled through a percentage (1/6) of the way through whatever menu you were looking through. Worked out really well...

Does your Kenwood work with the Music keg? From what I've heard, that's the last thing you'll ever need as far as expandability with Kenwoods...

I have 13,567 songs, 1,951 artists. using the buttons is a pain in the ass, a very tedious procedure to say the least. i find it easier to scroll through on the ipod itself. that way i have quick scroll letter search and i can just pop it off my dock and bring it up to my line of view so i can keep an eye on the road instead of my center console. Plus you cant beat the sound quality of an 1/8" jack vs usb data cable. fyi.. You can tune your system much better that way too.

i've never heard of music keg...i'd just load music onto my flash drive and plug it in, it worked fine for me. i dont have that kenwood anymore, the display simply stopped working so i gave it to a friend. what a POS that HU was.

Alpine 9855 style? I actually considered one of those before I bought my 7897, but I heard the Glidetouch wasn't a very good feature... I'm pretty happy with the 7897, but I seem to have stupid low pre-out voltage, and it's annoying the hell outta me...

Are you saying that the 1/8" jack is better than a USB cable?
