Can someone help with info on changing shift knob?
I was wondering if anyone had any info on how to change a shift knob for my '99 CL, 5 SPD...I have the regular stock one on their and recently purchased this: http://www.autodirectsave.com/prod/A...395_Light/1926
Just wanted to find out any info before I go inspecting on my own, thanks!

It twists off counter clockwise...
To get the boot off the knob you have to push in on both sides at the same time and push down. You push in right on the boot where the knob and the boot meet. But on the boot side.

Thanks my man, Do you know if the boot will be hanging after installing the new knob? Will I have to do anything to fix it? Thanks again.

The boot will "hang" after installing the new knob. You have a couple choices
1. Leave it (which would be ugly imo)
2. The the whole console apart and screw a bolt onto to lever to hold the boot up then screw the knob onto it locking the boot in place, which is what I did on my old accord and it looked really good.
3. Buy a new boot.

ftw = for the win
You don't need to take apart the console to remove the shift knob, it just unscrews, then use a zip/cable tie to hold your boot in place.

ahhh Gotcha, So will the ziptie be noticeable or will the knob just screw over it? Thanks.

It shouldn't be, just cut the excess off and it'll look like it belongs there, not sure if the knob will cover it, depends on the knob.

you're gonna have to take out the console if you plan to have the light on your knob work. You will have to connect it to a power source, the light for the ashtray/cig lighter would do the trick... you will also have to hide the wire within the shift boot...
