Can an Auto Stall?
Can an Auto Stall?
I know this sounds wierd, but I think my automatic CL stalled. I was backing out of my garage to go to school this morning and stopped to put it in D, I had my music on pretty loud, and out of nowhere my engine just shutoff. The stereo was still on but to motor was off, this is the second time this happend since i bought my car 4 months ago. If this happed to anyone, any help or advice would be great. Thanks
Never had this happen on my CL, but it happened to my old Legend. Its was cause the fuel injectors were clogged. It might not be your case, but its something to look into.

If you leave it in D & let it roll backwards, it can stall, but otherwise it shouldn't. How many miles are on your car? Perhaps you have a clogged air filter or bad plugs?

i had that happen once. my drive way is a hill so i gave it gas, rolled down a little, gave it gas, rolled down a little, i was just fuckin around and my car stalled. it never did since though. also if u hold the brake and rev to live 2000+ rpms i think the car will stall also.

Anyway, you have quite a few miles. Pop open the filterbox & check on the status of the air filter. A dirty & clogged filter is usually the cause of stumbling & stalling at idle.
If it's clean, pull the plugs & check those too. A new set of NGK copper plugs should run you about 10 bucks & make the engine much happier.

I would recommend you use a good fuel injector cleaner the next time you fill up. It may also be time to replace your fuel filter. I had this problem on my Eclipse before and replacing the fuel filter did the job.
VX, I found this off some site:
To test the stall speed on your current torque converter:
With the engine running, the emergency brake fully applied and the brake pedal held firmly with your left foot put the selector in drive and depress the accelerator fully to the floor with your right foot for four seconds. Your stall speed will be the maximum RPM shown on the tach.
DO NOT HOLD ACCELERATOR TO MAXIMUM RPM FOR MORE THAN 4 SECONDS AND ONLY PERFORM TEST WITH A FULLY WARMED UP VEHICLE and A VEHICLE WHO'S EMERGENCY AND NORMAL BRAKING SYSTEMS ARE IN FACT WORKING PROPERLY.

I just stalled my auto!!!
Yeah, I engaged the handbrake and right when I went to put the gear in park, my phone rings, I answer it, I talk for a little while, hang up, noticed the car was still on, turned the key WHILE IT WAS IN D4, and it shook real hard then shut off.. I thought it wasn't supposed to let you do that? I guess not.

happened to me once, I was making a 3-point turn dropped it into D real quick and the engine stalled out. . . problem is my viper alarm had a starter kill to shut off the starter when the engine turned off and wouldnt arm the starter again till I hit the disarm button. . . VERY hectic moment
just that once, and nerver again afterwards
Used to happen every once in a while in my accord. I would be sitting at a light and it would just die. Other than that, it ran perfect..
On a side note, maybe I just have bad luck with Hondas. Can't wait to get rid of mine.
