Camber Adjustment

I am going to be lowering the CL soon and need a couple last minute questions answered. I am going to be getting the TEIN basics and need a camber kit because i want it pretty low. The SPC balljoint kit on iapdirect.com only adjusts up to 1.5 degrees. Is that going to be enough if I want to take the teins as low as they go? Or should I go with the Ingalls Adjustable Balljoint Kit +1.5 to +3.0?

Should I go with the SPC or the Ingalls on the camber kits?

Also, I saw the link for getting the backseat out of the 2nd gens but I couldnt find one for the 1st gens, can someone help me out on this one to?

I saw the 2nd gen tein install DIY, is the 1st gen pretty much the same?

Thanks for all your time guys!!!!

You dont really need to take the back seat out. It seems like it would be too much trouble, considering you can just go into the trunk to access the bolts on the top spring seat.

how low are you planning on going? the ingalls website does a decent job of outlining camber changes as you drop your car.

if you dont lower your car 2" or more, then you probably wont NEED a camber kit. Id go with ingalls if you do decide to get a kit.

The teins are capable of going 3inches down right, so I am planning on sometimes taking it all the way down, depending on where I am driving. So I should probably go with the 1.5-3.0 degree Ingalls balljoint kit????

i lowered my car 1.25" and my camber is .5 deg off i chewed thru my tires in less than 5 months. i think the 0 to 1.5 deg will be enough.

If youre going to go down 3 inches, then get a kit like the 1.5-3.0 Ingalls kit. Of course, each time you change the ride height, youll change the camber. I assume youre gonna drop it all the way sometimes just for show (?) and keep it at a different height for daily driving.

Ive heard of some people who just did a "washer trick" in the rear, which worked fine and was a cheap alternative. What this trick is im not sure, maybe clpower can elaborate as i too am wondering what this is...

more like 4 inches.

as for the washer and longer bolt trick in the rear yes that is possible you need to get a longer automotive grade bolt and just add some automotive grade washers onto the bolt to move the control arm out and therefore adjust camber back to normal.

If I get a camber kit I will have to raise my car up a bit...

I just sold the lower control arm ingalls camber kits to klepto...I think i am going to buy the upper pillow ball joint camber kits from ebay they go for about 160 or something.

Can you please elaborate a bit on this "washer trick". Where can you pick up some automotive grade bolts and washers?? Won't you have to take the car into a shop to get it aligned and the camber fixed?? Thanks!

well u can get the print out... or you can just eye ball it on the rear... the tire wear is not that bad on the rear since the rear tires do not turn like the front ones.

go to the hardware store.

Is it pretty easy to eyeball? say like if you lower it 3inches can you see a definite tilt of the wheel?

dude if you look at my car... it is really tilted inward...

im over 3 inch drop probably 3.5 or lower.

just keep adding washers until it looks even... then u can even go get it aligned again and see where ur at then add accordingly it isn't rocket science like it seems to be with removing a front grill
