Cam Gear+Dyno tuning =7 HP
i got my Aem gear installed and dyno tuned the car. Here are the results. Best setting for my car is 3 degree retard.
Before: hp 119.8 torque: 126.0@4400rpm
After: hp 126.6 torque: 126.5 @4400rpm
i did however gain some torque in the top end. It was after 5000rpm. i gain average of 10lbs of torque after 5000 all the way to redline. and hp gains increase after 5000rpm.
the bad news is that my car is still slow. The good news is that i gained power in hp and torque in the top end and did NOT lose any hp or torque from the bottom end.
bottom line: the cam gear is a good mod if dyno tuned correctly. You can easily lose power throughout the rpm band. Fortunatly i didnt because the shop i took it too are licenced by AEM and Apexi to tune the products on the dynojet. Oh and it did cost me an arm and a leg. $160 for install and $150 for dyno rums including tuning which they did. (7 runs).

civic EX has 127 on the 1.6 SOHC Vtec but thats at the flywheel. Take 25-30% off that to get the WHEEL HP and u get around 89 Hp to the wheels. My stock F23a is 150 to the flywheel and should be around 105 to the wheels. I have 126 to the wheels now so i think thats a good improvement over 105. And plus i have an auto tranny. I know its still slow but i think the mods helped a little.
Thats the point.

yup thats right. dynos dont lie.
By the way i was gonna get a Fuel Pressure Regulator also but the tuner shop said that the computer will adjust that for u and u wont need it unless ur running really lean which my car is ok. Not lean and not rich. Other than that u wont see any difference unless u get a V AFC and dyno tune that to change the Air/fuel ratios. How much hp did u actually get from ur FPR?? Im trying to hit at least 150 to the wheels.

You know I could just be a dumbass, which is often the case, but I could have sworn that I read that the F23A put out 200HP before the fly. If I can find the article Ill post the link. And to any 3.0 owners yes I know thats your horsepower, but I am talking about the 2.3. Feel free to correct me if Im wrong.
