CAI...generic vs. AEM

For CAI's what's the difference between a generic CAI and let's say an AEM CAI. Is there that much of a difference? Anybody got any tips on how to do the install...

thanks...

Most people here in the forum (me included) have AEM CAIs and they swear by them. Installation can be a little difficult if you don't know much about cars. You'd have to take out the bumper, etc. I suggest you do a search for this topic because this has been covered a few times.

Good luck!

I'm kinda partial to AEM (if you couldnt tell).

I dont think there is much difference but you get what you pay for in most circumstances. Otherwise I wouldve got an accord if you know what I mean.

With a no name you may run into fitment problems, cheaper filter, less robust paint/anodizing, etc. Your call.

I know of 3 CAI's. AEM, Iceman, and Injen. I think weapon R came out with one too. They are pretty much in the same price range. I think a generic CAI would be a home made one with pvc pipe or something.
They should all be decent, but I am running an AEM also.

oKAY gotta quick question....i got a 98 2.3 manual....so would I wanna get a CAI made for the 98 accord or the 97 accord? I've heard I should get the one for the 97 accord...but isn't my engine for the 98 cl different from the 97 accord?? Wouldn't it make more sense to get the CAI made for the 98 accord?? I'm confused...

There isn't much difference between generic and AEM CAI. I think the only difference is, a perfect fit or not. I have a generic CAI, and it was a little harder to put in. and i think the AEM is a perfect fit. But i think it's the same, also i saved alot of money for the generic one. More then half then what the AEM CAI goes for.
