Broken Cigarette Lighter..

ok so heres my problem, idk how this happened but after i reinstalled my console, this got broken. It pulls out (as seen above) and no longer gets power. I miss my radar detector . So i'd like to know how i can fix the cigarette lighter, and also what the best way to hard wire a radar detector is, so i still can use the plug for a GPS/ A/c inverter if i need too. Thanks

edit: sorry my car looks disgusting in these pics i'm cleaning it today

I found an add-a-circuit and ordered the cobra hardwiring kit, so i'll definitely be taking care of that in that manner. 1 question tho since i'll be using an add-a-circuit to perform the hardwire what kind do i need to get and ATO or a Mini, i'll be connecting it to the same fuse as the cigarette lighter

The cigarette lighter has a plastic cylinder shaped clip that holds it tight from the backside. It either fell off inside the center counsel or maybe broke. If you can find it tr to re-attach it to secure it. As I remember there is a second connector on the lighter wires about 18 inches away from the socket.
It may have come unplugged there. Check the fuses under the hood if all wires are connected and you have no power.

As for hard wiring your radar detector. Check to see if a straight cord or direct connect cord is available for your type of radar detector. If not you can get a auxiliary socket and wire it under the dash and plug it in out of sight. Make sure your ground and 12v wires are correct. Make sure you tape the plug into the new socket, they tend to pull out over time.

I believe your fuses are under the hood so the add-a-circuit would be tough because you would have to run wires under the hood. The cobra hardwire kit should have a fused lead and a ground ring connector. I would just secure the groung ring to any clean metal ground screw and connect the fused lead to an accessory circuit like your radio or existing lighter wiring assuming you get it working again. I would invest in a 12v test light if you dont already have one. They work great to test fuses and find 12v acc and constant wires. I wouldnt use it in new cars though. Very sensitive circuits can be damaged. First gen cl though no problem,

Got the lighter working, didn't take me too long, i'll post some pics of how i did it later.
I also ordered the direct wire kit & add-a-circuit, i'm going to run it off the radio fuse inside, unless thats a bad idea or something

Here's the whole harness that i had to unclip from behind the radio, the orange thing on the top of the connector is where it clips to the metal. Thats basically all the parts involved

that square hole is where the orange clip goes

this is the back side to the actual cigarette lighter plug, you can't really see it but the ground(-) tab is on the other side and the hole you can see is where the light clip goes, i switched in an amber led it lights up the white ring very nicely at night
finally this is everything all screwed back together (very tightly) before it got reconnected. Hope this will help somebody
