Red face Brake upgrade questions...please help asap!

Hi guys, I'm upgrading my brake (just rotors and pads) and need to ask some noob questions: Since my car -97 A-CL 3.0- is a FWD, do i need to buy both front&rear rotors as well as F&R pads? can i just buy rotors for all 4 wheels and just the pads for the front? If I have to boy a complete set, where should i put the *better* pads (front or rear)? (e.g. I plan to buy Hawk HPS fronts and Akebono ceramic rear pads, what do you think of that?)

Oh and i need to add that the rotors definitely need to be replaced since there's rust all over...the last owner didn't quite take care of it...

I searched the entire forum and no thread answers my questions...

And last but not least, here's the cheapest price quote i could find, does anyone have a better deal???

Price Quote:
- Brembro Front Rotors: 2 x $44.95
- Brembro Rear Rotors: 2 x $30.95
- Hawk HPS Front Pads: $71.79
- Akebono Rear Pads : $43.95

Sub-Total $267.54 w/o tax

FREE SHIPPING!!!

Thanks everyone,
-ZZZ

You really don't need to run brembo. Find the cheapest set of generic rotors. A rotor is a rotor. Seriously. Spend the money you saved on a good set of brake pads.

There's nothing wrong with running two different compounds front and rear, especially driving on the street. This is assuming you are a normal driver and not an idiot.

More than your subtotal above...$275+ shipping for a set of 4 rotors only.

Yea i just bought Brembro blanks F&R and Ceramic pads from tirerack for 225 shipped. I went to install it but my brakes are a mess. Who ever did them last sure fucked up all the bolt heads. I have to go get a drill and drill everything out.

To answer your question, you can get away with doing just front brakes, but I'd do all 4 at once, I always do. And is that price for brembo blanks?

I'm pressed for money now so $275+ for just rotors is not a good deal for me, i could have the whole thing (rotors, pads, labor) done with $300....thanks for the advice though...

97BlackAckCL: Yes, it's for Brembro Blanks.
