Alright, 2 things. First the power and grounds should work by touching to the battery power line and ground on the amp, if that doesn't work, then you won't be able to power off the remote because it's not a constant power. If you look at your trunk light, you can touch the positive and negative on each end of the bulb and get the neon to light. I hardwired my trunk led bar to get powered by my trunk led bulb, by finding pos/neg and soldering to each end of the bulb, this is the other option. Every other friend I have installed neons for, I have used the trigger and ground on the amp.
i would also return the neon, i bought the blue trunk led from http://ledautomotive.com/ for $5 and it looks just as good as a neon, but it looks cleaner from the fact that its the trunk light.
prepared to flame a Dodge Neon, but strangely im pleasently surprised that its a light, and for me thats saying something
anyways, maybe the remote wire wasnt carrying enough current, if that the case id buy a relay, take the remote power for the relay, ground the relay with the amp, and draw power for the accesory from the amp wire as well. real simple

Do yourself a favor and forget any/all styling techniques you've ever seen on one of the fast and the furious movies. Buy something worthwhile, something performance wise or just something that doesn't glow. Honestly, how often od you stare at your trunk open? unless u'r going for a show car, then by all means glow it up, but unless u'r gonna show it off all the time what's the point?

I was strangely under the impression that the rmt wire was a 5V. Just wondering aren't you guys afraid of pushing too much power through the deck? Unless your remote wires doesn't go through the deck like mine but direct from the ignition. I might have my story mixed up, heh.

12 volts is 12 volts, I use all LED bars which draw significantly less than neon bars, but my buddy has a half dozen neon bars wired through both his cars, 2 sets on each amp on the remote wires and he has no problems. I helped him wire them.

i also had two led bars also running off of the remote wire and never had a problem.
