BOSE Headunit Compatible With Non-BOSE System?

Will the Acura BOSE H/U out of a 1st Gen work in another 1st Gen that does not have the BOSE audio option? I've heard speculation but no solid info.

Also wondering do you have to re-wire a stock bose system if you get new speakers or a new head unit

Yes, you have to bypass the bose amp. There are wiring diagrams on this forum, do a search for bose amp.

If you add a headunit with a preamp, it will not work. I have seen many people on here have to bypass the stock amp. They may sell adapters as well, I just cut the wiring harness, and spliced the channels together.

dogg ive done it.u do not need to bypass the amp. u do need to turn it on. by hookin up the blue wire coming from the wiring harness adapter to the remote or power antenna wire on the h/u. no special low feq. adapter needed, no fancy nerd shit, just plug and play baby.

the bose amp only puts out 11 rms ( what has been said on the fourm) and most aftermarket decks are 22 rms 50 max so the aftermarket internal deck amp would be better, wouldnt it?

No, you don't. I replaced my Alpine/Bose head unit with a bad ass JVC MP3 disc unit. It sounds great so long as I don't turn on the loudness. If I do turn on the loudness function, I have to listen at very low volume or it will bounce the speakers out of thier excursion limiters. Ie, blow the shit out of them... As for the other way, the harness will match, but the output level will be very low.

Good luck...

PS,
Why the fuck would you want that POS head unit anyway? It has only a few station presets, and can barely play CDRW without PE0 erroring out. They suck, just get a nice head unit and keep the stock unit in a box for some day when or if you decide to sell the car.

you're talking about using an after market h/u with the stock bose speakers and amp right. I just want to make sure because if I can get rid of my speaker level converter that's taking up alot of space in the stereo compartment, then that would be great.

you cannot use a bose preamp to power passive speakers. only the non-premeium decks have built in amplification.

JVC head unit in CL 3.0 98

Hi,

I am planning to install JVC KD-AR5500 instead of stock HU into 3.0 CL 98. Can I just connect new unit instead of the old one? I do not believe this car has separate amplifiers, only headunit (panasonic/matsushita with Acura BOSE names on front panel) and BOSE speakers.

Did anyone do something like this? Will it work?

Thanks!

dude ALL of their shit is garbage unless it was built before 1990. first of all, i don't trust any company that thinks they dont need tweeters, and second of all any company that puts 90% of their profit back into their marketing is a shitty company. Oh and all their newer speakers have fucking light bulbs! in them to "idiot proof them" which basicly make the sound even shittier. dont buy into their hype. oh and fuck monster cable too while i'm at it.
