Bose/Alpine head unit...
My 1998 1st gen CL Premium has the Bose Audio / Alpine in-dash CD head unit. I hate this unit because it pics CD not to play arbitrarily (PE0). In addition, it doesn't play MP3s and has no line imput. I do however have a JVC head unit from my 1990 Integra (long story) that does play any type of CD, MP3s, and has a line input. The only problem is...
The Bose system has six channels and the JVC has four. Can I still use the JVC or am I going to have to spend another $400 on a new MP3/CD head unit with six channels?
Thanks

The Bose System has six speakers but only four channels. The Front two channels are split to your mid speaker and tweeters. Hence they are components. Your JVC head unit will work fine.
If you want I'll sell you my Alpine MP3/CD Head unit model CDA-9813 for $220. Let me know. Awesome sound.
Again, your JVC headunit will work fine. All you need is the harness the wiring is all set up already. Some may say you would have to bypass the bose amp but I didn't and never had any problems. The only problem if any that that would pose would be your speakers would be unusually loud as it is being over amplified (if the JVC is a high end model) and would cause the speakers to distort. If that's the case then you would have to bypass the bose amp.
If you need any help hit me up.

Thank you James, This is a KD-SX980. A wonderful unit though it is powered. I have heard of a device that flattens the output to preamp levels. I can't remember where I heard about it. Any way, thanks again.
