Black Housed Headlights & HIDs

i'm planning on black housing my headlights this weekend and i was wondering how this will effect the light output of my HIDs. i know that blackhousings will get rid of the glare, but what else can i expect? i've looked through some old threads but found some conflicting info.

You're not repainting the reflectors, just the housings on the outside, you shouldn't have any problems, just make sure to use a high temp paint.

nice. i think i might tint the corner lense as well. projectors would be great but i think they would look really out of place on my car as its pretty much stock

Questions: how do you guys remove the housings? (link to a walkthrough w/ pics would be greatly appreciated ) What tools do you need? What type of paint to use? recommended place to buy? and how does oven-baking work?

thanks in advance...

Was thinking the same thing

Hey herb, make sure you get the water/condensation out of there b4 you reseal them, you'll thank me later, heat gun or hair dryer ftw. Also, make sure the backs where your bulbs go in are secure too, or you could get condensation through there.

so i'm just about to reseal my headlights and i've noticed that i've lost a few of the rubber vent tubes that are on the back of the headlight. how important are these things? should i worry about condensation getting in through the holes? should i seal the hole up?

nevermind i found them. a tip for anyone doing this DIY be careful of what you use to clean the inside of the lense. use something non-abrasive to clean it or you may damage the lense. like me.

ya i just finished resealing them. did a much better job this time so i shouldn't have anymore condensation . but ya i kinda facked up the inside of one lense. its a little foggy. but at the same time its not that bad compared to what i've seen other headlights looking like. but blackhousing are sick so i'm pretty hyped with the way it looks. i'll try to post some pics tomorrow.
