I feel your pain! Hehe One night, my boyfriend used my car to pick up some Mexican take-out while I stayed home to watch this show. Anyway, guess they stacked the bag real high and he didn't realize it. What happened on the way home was almost as bad as having Dr. Pepper on your floorboard. While making a turn, the bag toppled over and refried beans, cheese, rice, guacamole & sour cream, and salsa littered my passenger side area. When he came home he was sooo scared to tell me. It wasn't too bad. Since I have the accessory mats for the CL it covered nearly all of the carpet. I just needed to get the mat cleaned.

Well since I now, know that I'm not the only smoker, I can say this: I hate how when I ash out the window somehow the ash comes back in and gets stuck either in the rear speaker area or it somehow flies back to the front and gets on my dashboard. Do you get this problem Casper? I do and I hate it! I dont like ashing in the ash trays cause then the car stays smelly like cigg ash and other stuff Well I thought I'd just share that with you.

my biggest complaint about the car:

paint quality - whatever touches the car chips the paint

also, lack of a manual 3.0 makes no sense - automatic transmissions have zero appeal to me

several things annoy me:

headrests don't tilt forward - hell my prelude had these back in 1988
no lateral adjustment to tighten the front seat width - also on the same prelude
the passenger seat returns to the least comfortable position when you fold it back - again, the prelude at least had memory seats
really bright high beams and really weak lows - piaa platinums solve this
a single squeak moves around the interior of the car - right now it’s in the back on the passenger side
aside from that, the car itself doesn’t squeak or rattle but everything I put in it does, which is weird

other things don’t bother me so much:

length (?)
accord interior - hadn’t even seen one until a few months ago so why would I care
fake wood - less is more, although I think blueangel’s looks nice
no inside/outside temp, location of the sensor - what, the design group wasn’t paying attention?

Love this car, the power in the V6, the features, the styling. But I have to vent about the few features I thought could've been better.

1. The turning radius is horrible.
2. The moonroof doesn't open all the way.
3. The Cup Holders.

The location of the fuel filter. Anyone that changes this out knows what I mean.

The manual heater/ac fan button. Wish it had a down button instead of going up in increments of one. Sometimes it takes me hours to get the damn thing to land where I want it.

I have a 1998 3.0 CL. On the plus side it has been a remarkably reliable vehicle but the following items have always been a thorn in my side.

The transmission is the number 1 worst item in the car. It reminds me of my Dad's old Dynaflow buicks. In fact, this single item will drive me away from any more Acuras.

There is no Low level idiot light for the windshield resevoir.

The auto A/C system has a very poorly engineered system for measuring cabin temperature. On mild days this causes large temperature transients until the cabin temperature stbilizes for some period of time.

If headlights are on during daylight hours (e.g. in the rain), the digital displays cannot be read.

The adjusting ring for the intermittemt wipers has much too wimpy detents.

No outside temperature display even though the A/C system has this data.

Its handling also sucks. It does not corner well and the ride is much too soft.

same thing happen to me with my mega size coke from McDs... now my car makes funny sticky noises when i shift from park to drive... =( erggh.. gotta wash that sticky sugar crap off some somehow!

and u know.. i wish there's finer controls for the fan speed... 4 levels is just not enough! and i wish the auto temperature control worked better..

I never use the ashtrays, so I don't know how good/bad they are. In fact, my ashtray up front is used to hold my lighters; it's the perfect place. I keep the box of jacks in that little box thing with the flap over it (I think it's supposed to hold CD's?) and the lighters and my cell phone in the ashtray; I'll take a picture sometime of the configuration.

Yah, the fuel filter on my '97 3.0 is no party to change, but tons easier compared to a GM with the filter under the car! My 95 'lude (VTEC) is a little easier. For something that seldom is changed, I can handle that.

The electronic climate control works to my satisfaction... wish Honda sold the Preludes here with it.... the did in other parts of the world.

Handling is only fair. Not bad since the CL is a boulevard cruiser, no sports-car intentions. The 'Lude is besy suited for "spirited" driving... the CL is just a great ride to relax with. In other words, trying to make the CL a sports car is like trying to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of time, and it annoys the pig.

'nuff said on that.....

Now that strap thing under the center armrest... it's great for our toll highway (407) transponder. Wirks great there and it doesn't have to be stuck to the windshield!

Some of the things that bother me...
-My car is friggin SLOW! i cant stand it!
-The windows roll up like molasses
-The turn radius could be tighter

Other than that I'm real happy with it, I just wish it had more power, or the 3.0's came in stick =T

The windows suck, they are so slow...what's the rationale behind them? My Civic had good power windows.
I've also never been impressed by any Honda clutch., haven't driven an s2000 tho....

Non Automatic headlights, No outside temp sensor, and a little bit plusher interior. Fix those things and add about 50hp to the 3.0, and we have a nice car. Or just buy a 3.2 CL type s

The radio antenna, that is probably my biggest annoyance, I can never seem to get good reception in this car. My sister had a Legend and hers was so much better, I just cant remember if hers was in glass or not? Out side temp sensor i agree with, the poassenger seat recall position, teh wieght of the rear spolier my trunk is always falling on me.

Otherwise I love my car!

Rattling rear view mirror, interior parts and rear deck from bass

No H22

Lack of temp inside & out

No under hood light

Interior or the 97 vs the 98+

Window regulators !!!!

As far as the problem with ashes. I use the sun roof to vent out my car while driving. You have a ash tray that is removeable. I use mine then stick it out the sun roof

For you guys with the hesitation problem...try getting a MSD SCI electronic ignition and matching coil. Helped me out a lot. It hardly hesitates at all anymore.

My laundry list of "annoyances" includes:

weak headlights - especially low beam, heated seats only in a 3.0, low quality stereo in a premium priced car, the bright/dim function for dashpanel also contols stereo controls (Why?), interior light does not stay on (or have theater dimming) and the interior dash plastic (especially the stuff bins) scratches and scuffs very easily.

Aside from racking up several thousand dollars worth of repairs in one month (tranny, ABS thingy still not fixed, etc) the car is OK. Oh yeah, and those friggin dots on the top of our rear window make tint look like crap. I'm not so sure I would have got the car if I knew what I was in for - although it does look damn smooth...

Trunk space...lack of fold down rear seats.

Turning radius...horrible!! You need 3 lanes to do a U turn.

Passenger heated seats went out.

1. The one directional fan button
2. The fact that AC turns on by default.
3. The seat-belt loves to get caught in the little latch on the side of the seat to let the seats forward. (I REALLY HATE THIS ONE)
4. Rattles just started...and brought some squeaks along
5. The wheel gap is insane....I think we could do some off roading.
6. Big Turning radius(but it helps the handle)
7. Slow windows
8. Oh, and the wheel gap is huge.
9. Lack of a "scan" button on the stock head unit.
10. I would think a "power seat" would come with powered lumbar support.

Anyway, that's my top 10 list.

I love my car though

The thing that annoys me most about my 2.2 CL is the shifting. I have an automatic and it seems to thump when it shifts, and it does not stay in gear long at all. I do love my CL though, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I love my car! As for complaints, I have one rattle coming from the sunroof that annoys me, and one coming from...... well I don't know where, but I swear its there! And the gray interior doesn't look as good as the biege on does. Thats it! Oh and as for the strap underneath the armrest, its a sunglass case holder, well thats what I use it for anyway.
