there is absolutely no reason for a civic to use dual exhaust. cars making 3-4 times that power use a single exhaust (example, the mitsu evo/subaru sti) , i COULD see putting a Y exhaust like the 2nd gen CL has, but in a technical sense, it really serves no purpose.

I dont think that a dual will do anything on a 4 banger. it might look good, but im not even sure if its going to have a nice sound or not. I agree that it might let it breather better, but it just doesnt seem practical. I want to put a Y pipe on my CL, but there really isnt a way. I will see what i can do next time i get it up on a lift but probably nothing...

This has been beaten to death in the 2nd generation forum.

Someone said it best: "If 1,000 hp supras don't need dual exhausts, my CL-S doens't either."

Y Pipes aren't even true dual exhausts, it's 100% for looks, pure and simple.

:gheylaugh: seriously, dual exhaust is nothing on a civic. Next he'll tell you that his lawn mower motor offered some sick upgrades for his 4 banger too.

tell him to take off all the lug nuts on all wheels, and leave just one.

then say, it'll help with weight reduction and he will shave 3 full seconds off his 1/4 mile times.

unless his car is HEAVILY modified under the hood... he doesnt need a dual exhaust..

a car needs a good amount of air coming into the engine.. and a good amount going out.. if a good amount is coming in.. but an EXCESSIVE amount is going out.. the car is gonna lose an EXCESSIVE amount of power..

a I-4 with intake/headers is best with stock-3.5" single exhaust (IMO)

wow your friends is truely the ricer of the year!!

#1 Let him know 2k on a suspention is weak....so far im going on 5k plus on mine. maybe 10k into it by next show season.

#2 his dual exhaust theory, he is a tard. like said before, unless your putting together a car that holds a shitload of backpressure you dont even need to upgrade pipe sizing to much, maybe go 2" catback with a borla or magnaflow muffler...He is referring to dual tips outta a single muffler which in essense is just for looks. A true dual setup would never even fit on a civic let alone help it go any faster than a 17second 1/4.

Mention this to your friend, since he thinks engine is the way to go, buy some $100 springs and shocks, then when the shock dampers give way and hes riding on the pavement because he bought cheap crap, go laugh at him...er no better yet take his picture and post it here. There are 2 things in your car you NEVER go cheap on...Your suspention and your wheels....because if you have a poorly made suspention, thats what holds you in the air, and if you have cheap wheels or tires, thats what makes you stop and roll.....1 crack in a wheel means bye bye 100k in engine mods.......its late, im done

alright

i SWEAR its stock

- on a more serious note, there is no way in hell ANY honda has a stock 3.5'' pipe ANYWHERE from the cat to the tips.

maybe you meant 2.5, 2.25, 2, or 1.75"?

even if his car is heavily modified, you can't do dual exhaust on a 4 banger unless you branch the headers into two seperate dump tanks

Duals dont do shit for a basic civic 4-banger. Look at the S2000: it comes from the factory with dual exhausts, yet racing versions stick with a single exhaust system.

STOCK - 3.5"

i meant anything from stock through 3.5" diameter outlet.. so anything in between counts..
