Beater suggestions?
Hey guys, i'm sellin the CL within the next week and thought i'd get some opinions on a driver. I've got 8g to spend max, and I want something with good gas milage and decent insurance rates. I'm kinda toying with the idea of a Civic or Integra, any suggestions? Supporting statements? Disses?

why r u sellin the cl? it gets good mpg. much nicer car then a civic or teg thats for sure. not to mention u can beat on it also. and if u had a 97 2.2 cl theres no reason why u cant get about 10k for it. the dealer sells them for like 12-15

CL a beater?
You crazy? I love my car too much to drive it like an asshole. In 9 months, i've put 22k on the car, it is just too nice for the amount of miles that I drive. It's a 97 3.0 CL, with aftermarket 16's, perfect condition with 64k, and the best I can get for it is 13,600. WTF is the world coming to? I am hardly getting calls on my car when it's listed 800 bux below blue book!
Any other beater suggestions? I'm leaning towards the civic cuz I can get a 98 (which is considered new to a finance company) financed less than an integra, plus it'd be a newer car with better milage. Anyone have any bad experiences with these rides? (dumb question)
Oh, and to the nissan guy, I had a 300z twin turbo, and i'll never buy another turbocharged car again. It was in the shop more than it was out, I spent more on that car in maintenance than I did for the actual car itself!
Thx guys

I can't say anything about a 98 civic but do own a 99 civic SI (son's graduation present--yes one of the old guys). We have had no problems with it and he loves it. Much easier to mod than ours since there is a ton of stuff out there for it. If that is the direction you are heading then go civic.
As for the focus, hell no!!! POS My aunt called me a couple of months ago and asked about a car for her daughter and I told her to get an RSX or a Civic. She went out and bought her a focus. My uncle finally drove the car two weeks ago. It was traded in the next day. He said no way was he letting his daughter drive that death trap.
Oh, and I agree completely on the old nissans. I always hated those things. It was even worse when you had to put a system in one. The damn things never went back together.
Good luck

There are plenty of cars you can get for the price that you're considering. I would suggest keeping the CL. You can put at least another 100K on the car. Even at the rate you're going, that's another 3 to 3 1/2 to years. You can still cruise in comfort, while enjoying the power that you have. Just a thought! Good luck!

yea definitely with $8k your options are limitless depending on what you are looking for... you can get a nice older luxury / sports car or a newer compact / hatch... I like the 96 civics, golfs (vr6 only)... but if you are looking for an everyday beater... put the $8k as down paymemt and finance the rest off of a TOYOTA MATRIX or MAZDA P5 for like $12-15K and its NEW!

Why sell the CL?
God knows I know that she can take it, afterall, the cars are the "butterflies" of the reliable cocoon that we call an accord. It just costs me too much to keep. I pay 310 a month for the car, 240 a month for insurance (it's the best I can find, I've got 3 friggin points on my liscence), and 160 a month in gas. I think 710 bucks a month to drive a car is just too much, ya know?

BTW, someone buy my AEM CAI! it's really cheap, for a 3.0, 150 shipped!
P.S., wtf! Is the economy really so bad that people wont take a nearly new AEM CAI for 60 bucks less than a store charges? Why the hell am I forced to sell my car for almost a grand below blue book? Someone fix this damn slump.
(steps off soapy box.)

Oh... Almost forgot
The only thing keeping me away from most definately buying a civic is the fact that i've already owned 3 of them:
91 CRX Si, first car, loved and beated it to death
87 HX hatchback, biggest POS around. I covered it with "NOS\Supercharged\type R" stickers, I even put a cardboard f1 style wing on the back and a soupcan on the exhaust, fukin hilarious!
and a 93 DX.
Not to diss civics or anything, but i'm kinda getting tired of the bland styling that seems to sneak its way through all generation civics. Ya know?

(The CRX on the left was mine.)

So, if you can hold on a couple of months things should start looking up.
