I have a 99 2.3 CL, original battery says group 35 on it but it looks a little small so I was wondering if anyone has ever fit a group 34 in successfully and if so what did you have to do, just throw out that plastic surround thingy?

Looking at optima's website:

The D34 is better than the D35 so I would prefer it but if it won't fit I'll have to stick with the D35.

Are you getting red or yellow top? I have yellow D75/25. That's the closest fit to stock for an optima if you ask me

Here's what it looks like on my 3.0. Just about completely fills my battery tray> I initially was looking at the d34 but after comparing dimensions and sizes, the D75/25 looked like a better fit to me. Here's mine

Thanks for the pic, hopefully someone in town has that D75/25. A little off topic but why is your engine bay reversed compared to my 99 2.3? Is it the I4-V6 difference or the 97-99 difference?

Like for example my battery is on the passenger side and the alternator is on the driver's side.
