My factory battery finally went out and my father had amaco put in a new one but my subs dont hit as hard do you think a yellow top optima would fix this problem?

Thanks

The optima will help you not kill your battery or alternator, and give you a more constant current. Also, check your connections to the battery terminals.

Do you have a CAP for you subs? and yes, the Gold Top will certainly last longer.

I would seriously consider upgrading your alternator if you're running a power hungry system

Bosch has a new line of high - ouput alternators with an application for the 94-97 Honda Accord with an output of around 180 amps.

I would spend $$ on that first in addition to upgrading the "big 3" (do a google search on this !), then spend $$ on the Optima and Cap, etc.

If you're just running a small system ( a single 10" or 12"), a Cap might help a bit

remember....you're system is only as strong as it's weakest link !

I agree with your statement, but an optima and 3 farrad cap support my 1200w monblock just fine with 2 12's and I slam the hell out of it. I'm only getting a higher output alt because I'm adding a highs amp to the picture. Like I said, check your terminals first, and get an optima, and a cap, before you worry about putting a new alternator in.

very true....if he's got a smaller system with amps that don't draw a crap load of current

an optima and cap should do the trick !

Didn't even think of this till now, if you got a new battery, check your eq settings, cuz all your eq and bass settings were erased when the battery died.

But I still recommend the optima, they are a godsend for systems

A cap as well, they help your amp and battery a LOT

Yeah I reset all my settings, someone who works with me recomended I dont get a cap, he said they are a waste of money (I work in TV's, he works in car audio at Circuit City) So I dont know if I want to get a cap. If the battery can do the trick that would be great but with the battery I have now my lights dim when I roll up the window. If it helps any I have a 600.1 Kicker amp and 2 12' comp vr's

The cap will save your alt's voltage regulator in the long run, but if you want to listen to your friend, I strongly suggest that you look at the heavier alt. The CL comes with either a Denzo or Delfi alternators. Both are rated 80amps. You should look at some of the 180 to 200 amp alts if you are gonna thump without a CAP.

I'll kick that idea around and see how it sounds with a new battery and how much this alt is gonna be. I'm kinda weary about doing all of this before the dynomating but o well, my system sounds alot better with the window cracked for some reason.

i have installed/ had systems in my older cars, and am planning on installing one in my CL when i get the cash....

first of all, what is a cap? i have never heard of this....

also, for those who have systems in thier CL's, does the trunk rattle alot with your subs????
that is one thing that i can't stand, its my pet peeve i guess.... i had 3 10' MTX thunder 6000's in my old Acura Vigor and it rattle so much ( not only the trunk but also the metal that were inbetween back seats and also the brackets that held the back 6x9... i almost hated it because of this) I even got the trunk of the vigor dyno-mated at a local car sound shop and it didnt really help

just wondering so i can know what to look for when getting a system....

i am thinking about just gettting a single JL 10W3...nothing to big

That's because your subs move air to create sound, you'll also notice that your system sounds 100x cleaner with the skipass to the trunk open, I open it when I want harder bass because it bandpasses the trunk. Definately dynamat, I did my whole trunk, rear deck, trunk lid, and license plate and it sounds clean as a whistle now. As far as getting a cap, it's a must for any bass amp IMO, but that's cuz I push a LOT of wattage. If you're running under 1000 watts, you should be ok on the optima, but if/when you kill your batt or alternator, i'll be there to tell you, that you shoulda gotten a cap
