Bar in trunk..

I was wondering if it was possible to remove the two bars under the 6X9 speakers.. the bars connected to the trunk door...basically would the trunk door still operate the same..or do those bars stabilize the trunk door...thanks

They hold up the trunk when it is open.

take 'em out if you like, but be careful, they are under a lot of tension so they may snap at you. And you'll be hit in the head everytime you lean inside your trunk.

Time to post whore...hey hornyleprechaun, I hope you're gonna hit up Dave & Busters (on I-85 by Gwinnett Mall) on Saturday around 4:30pm...me and Got Rice and ATLCL are going to go for the Acura/Maxima meet. Hit us up!

And yeah, I don't know if its worth taking out that bar in the trunk...what are you trying to do, make more room for the magnet of the 6x9s? or do you need more vertical clearance for those sony xplods you're bumpin'?

My wing is so heavy the trunk doesn't stay up anyway. I made a stick to hold my trunk open. The bars might be spring loaded, but you dont need them if you don't want them. Mine are useless

The solution is simple in idea but sometimes difficult in execution. You replace them with those (damn, the name has slipped my mind) gas strut things. Back when I did high end car audio we did it all the time. That way your trunk still works like you want it to and it clears all the blockage away from under the rear deck. It is going to take some work and custom brackets, but it can be done.

There is some way to adjust those bars so your trunk will stay open with the spoiler. I know there is a thread or two around here telling you how to do it with pics

Aight thanks for everyone who responded...I'm gonna try it this week if I get anytime...the reason I want these bars gone is so I can fit my sub box inside of that area...and anyways..my trunk already has enough brown bread (better than dynamat) on it that it doesn't stay open..so those bars are useless for me...plus they rattle like crazy when my subs hit..so I wanna get rid of em

ATLCL98...I'll try my best to make it up there..I wanna check out your CL along with the other ATL CLers...No system in my car though..I'm making a whole new sub box for it..
