Bad Day

So i was finally going to enjoy driving my car yesterday after a lot of work i put into making it look good, and the car smoked and then made a weird sound. So i stopped and looked under the hood. The belt going on the alternator and around was shredded to pieces. So i called the tow truck, luckily my insurance covers it, and they took it to the Acura Dealer. The guy called me a little while ago and told me that the problem was the tension pulley so they had to do that with the belt, which was going to cost $350 or so. Then he was stating that he wasnt sure if the timing belt had been done yet, and the rear disc break pads were almost gone and the front needed to be replaced next oil change. So total cost to fix all of my car is about $800 . SO it looks like the performance upgrades and interior work i was planning on doing will have to wait a couple months before i can get going again...

The "these unexpected repairs are hindering my upgrades/mods" problem happened to me time and time again. It's taught me to SAVE more! Every time I look back, I wish I had saved more money along the way. I'm just really starting to understand that. Ah, I'm getting off topic
What were you planning on doing with that $800?

The $800 was going to get me an exhaust system, cold air intake, new plug wires, and the RSX black leather seats. So now to go back and save for a couple of months to get these mods, looks like it will be a big birthday gift to myself coming up in December
Thank god i buy honda's and acura's with the timing belt done, otherwise this little trip to the mechanic would of cost around $1200

I had a Nissan Maxima a while back and the chain drive went out. It actually is worse to have a chain drive then belts. They had to basically had to take the cams out and get new sprokets and chain, it was going to cost around $1000 to do the job, so it wasnt worth it. I actually am much happier with belts because if they go out the car can still run

if you have an interface engine. if you have a non interface engine, like every single one of bmw's engines, and the timing belt goes.. your fucked. the valves all stay open and shit goes kaboom.

Yeah, but when the chain drive went out the car would not work cause it kept the valves open...
