AUto to 5spd

Has anyone done a auto to 5 spd conversion? If so... what was your experience? Any problems? Did you use mostly accord parts or did you mix and match with lude parts?

I wanted to but figured it would cost wayyyy tooo much. Ive got a 3.0 but i wanted a 5spd. Ive heard the tranny goes out alot on 3.0's so if i need a new tranny, i might converge

Re: AUto to 5spd

I did the swap. I put a 96 accord ex 5 speed. I also got an ACT extreme pressure plate and street disk. I broke my drivetrain this weekend after dropping the clutch at 5500. It cost about $1800 without the ACT stuff.

u could use a lude tranny, but i was told the gearing is off for our sohc vtec. im looking into this now. it seems an h23 tranny is the medium. can handle more power then the f22 tranny, but gearing isn't perfect. i really dont know. some1 with some real facts could answer this. if we could look at all the gear ratios of all 3 trannys that would help, but i dont know where to find that.

say22cl did u do the swap urself? if u could make a list offhand of most of the parts u needed that would help. besides the tranny, and flywheel, clutch, pedal, cylider. all the little crap.

I don't know the individual prices but it was $1700 installed. The first tranny wasn't good, bc the syncronizer to 3rd was bad, so i got another one about a week after(free). It came from a 96 accord ex. The prelude tranny would have been nicer, but they couldn't get one, and it would cost a lot more. My car is at a transmission shop now and they are telling me it was installed wrong causing the drivetrain to go out. But i dont know. It seemed nice. I got a new brake pedal and a clutch was installed, just like normal.
