Somethin flew through my head the other day when i was looking at the clock in my car. I'm gettin a new head unit and don't want 2 clocks. Is it possible to get the in-dash clock to display something else? Perhaps scroll something? I think this would be hott, since it has 4 characters, maybe you could make it say 2 3 C L or somethin like that. Maybe lack of sleep got to me or somethin like that but i just thought that would be tight if you could do that.

If this was mentioned before I didn't see if so sorry if I'm repeating something someone else already said. Anyway getting the thing to display other characters is easy. There are "driver" boards that you can get at electronics shops to make display display other characters. In fact you might not even need the board, but the problem is the display is only 5 characters. One of these characters (the could only be : or |. And the slanted \ part of the letter R in ACURA wouldn't be possible either. You could spell ASS though or A:CU. The only way around this would be to replace the whole display, but that might not be a bad idea: Something scrolling like you said would be cool! I might look into this. Cheap mod and different!

if you got a g-tech or vtec controller like the field's.....or maybe a radar detector, like a remote mount one........i don't know. i'm sure you could do something cool there but since i'm in here and the car is outside i can't visualize what it looks like.

I dunno, why not use the clock as a VTEC light or something like that... Everytime your engine is in VTEC range it'll go on. Umm, might be a good idea for a next project, seems REAL easy to do.

 

Its very easy. My friend did that for his old GSR. He had a vtec sticker light up when vtec kicked in.
