Apologies to turbotk

Hey man,

Sorry I went down on you so hard. I'm reading some of your other posts and didn't realize that u were a n00b. I thought u actually bought the h22 head and were ready to put it on ur f23 or somethin too. Remember, the B18a - b18c head conversion is within the same family of motors. They both dohc as well.

Apologies man.

Tell me how the swap goes.

Here's the 411 on the h22a.

- 93-95 h22's are good for turbo
(not known to have nearly as many problems as the 97 and
up)
(have many friends that have had turbo's on their 97 and up
ludes)

- 96 is best year for our car (wiring wise)

- 97 is good too but not for turbo (needs more work to be good)
- needs to have block resleeved
- heavy duty head gasket (will blow from time to time)
- can't remember what else, ask f0de my friend redid his
h22 too long ago to remember

- i don't think the ATTS from the SH will fit (not sure) but that's a
good thing to have if ur FWD (not for turbo either cuz it
malfunctions w/ the extra HP)

- obdi vs odbii (not much diff)

- some jdm h22's have the lsd (not restricted to type-s)

- type-s is crap (not worth the money)

- with the jspec engines ... do ur research ... jdm doesn't
necessarily mean better

Suggestion:

-96 h22a

-Don't cut any corners. Get the tranny, ecu, and engine. Yes you can keep your a/c, that's only for small civic that can barely fit the engine in their bay, u've seen ur engine bay... tons of space.

- I was going to do this swap a few years ago, but didn't think low 15's/ maybe high 14's were justifiable at $5000 when I got my 2.2 to run 15.8.

Good luck dude... def keep me updated on how it runs.

Yea the pre 97's are closed deck ...that's why they are better for boost and don't have as many problems. I have no idea why they went open for the 97 and up... cheaper to make and all the ludes used the h22 in 97.

most of the time you rip the head off a block and you see the cylinder walls aren't part of the block, their seperate sleeves with a few supports holding them.. which is open deck, closed deck is where the whole block is basically one piece aside from holes for coolant..
