Anyone have any tips?

I put in my stereo system a month ago and now it sounds awesome, but only from inside. Outside, it rattles like hell. I have heard that dynomat helps, but will it get rid of most of the rattling? I also disconected the trunk release wire in the trunk that hooks up to the trunk release in the driver side door area. I think this is a big cause of the rattle too. Can I just tape it up? Will that be good enough or do I have to dynomat? Do any of your cars rattle too or is it just mine?

Thanks.

The only problem I have is my rear view mirror rattles - pretty annoying. But Dynomat does work pretty well on the trunk lid and quarter panels.

You need to dynomat the spot of the rattle for it to work.

dynomat goes around the speaker. basically what it does mounts around the speaker so that the speaker is not in contact with anything hard in the car. the way it is now the speaker is set directly to its mount which is a hard surface, that transfers vibrations very well into the rest of the car. dynomat is rubber so it takes care of a lot of vibrations. it might or might not fix your problem but it will stop a lot of rattling. you still will get the umf from the bass though so don't worry about losing that.

Just wondering, how much does dynoamating your car cost?

i got my rear deck dynomated for $100, stopped the rattling for about a month, but after i went dynomat, my truck started ratting, b/c the mat on the deck was compressing the air, and pushing it out the rear of the car.

so it can have a reverse effect

I have used brown bread...supposed to be better than dynamat...same concept though..with 4 10"s I had a lot of vibration and it drove me insane almost cuz it ruined the whole reason of getting 4 10"s....so I bought the brown bread and put it in my whole trunk and it sounds amazing now that i've done it....No more vibration..well worth the money..if you want brown bread or some other vibration dampener check out www.b-quiet.com...well worth it...I give brown bread a 10 out of 10..easier to put on than dynamat..yes i've tried both..and it makes my system sound 10 times better...

Dynomat has trunk kits that you can buy, they are around $100. There are a couple of different kinds, but definately go with the ultra. Your going to need to get a little roll of it for your rear deck where your 6x9's are at, I think that thing rattles the most out of everything. With 2 15's in my trunk, I think the rear shelf started rattling more everyday. Pain in the ass.

if u dynamat the deck that it does push the bass back to the trunk. But does that affect sound quality. ill do both deck and trunk if it stops ALL the rattling but i need the sound quality. i dont want it to block the sound in the trunk.

Does dynomatting my trunk kill the sound?
I know that our seats don't fold down, so we already lose a bit of sound. If i dynomat my car, will that kill the sound or just stop rattling?

It definately helps the sound. No more rattles, just all bass. It helps the sound alot too if you fold down the piece in the middle of your backseat also

ok.. here is alil schooling for you....

rattles come from to things.. air pressure and body contact...

the air pressure (especially when speakers face towards the trunk) causes any loose areas to rattle....

The contact of the box to the car will cause the rest to vibrate. If there was full contact on the body (floor of the trunk) there would be no rattles...

Dynomat will help some areas somewhat or atleast tone the rattles down but most likely will not stop all of them... There are places where the rattles will be great (i.e. bumper) that it is a bitch to do anything to..

best of luck... I say reposition your woofers (box) and try and be creative in what you do... but you will most likely have to live with it!
