Any known problems with 1997 acura cl 2.2
I am about to buy a 1997 acrua CL 2.2 automatic for my housekeeper.
before i buy it i want to know if there are any known problems people have had with these.
EX: transmissions, engine problems, any electrical problems. just anything i should look for when they deliver it before i buy it.
Its for my 21 y/o housekeeper, she goes to UCLA and watches my house when i am gone, which is almost always. i need her to have reliable transportation so i wont have to worry about her breaking down on the side of the road.
any inforamtion would be greatly appreciated.

i really appreciate the help and quick responses. seems like the acura will be the best car to go with here.
how much HP can the stock V6 VTECH handle? ive been looking at these things all day and im half way tempted to buy a new one for myself and trick it out.i see a lot of the hondas around here running pretty quick. could it handle about 600HP. or would i need to have JDM build up the block.they did work on my lightning and saleen, amazing work.
sorry for all the questions. maybe i should just search for this stuff..

is the 21yr old housekeeper your mistress? then i canse justifying buying her a car. is she hot? sorry this is the first thing that comes to mind. anyways the 2.2 cl is a very reliable car i fu take care of it. all hondas seem to suffer from dying window regulators or motors after a couple years.
as far a v6 vtec do u mean the nsx??? or a 3.0cl or 3.2cl???? they are all diff engines.
a nsx tt would make massive power.

just the 3.0cl....
im not looking at paying $90,000 for a car and then dumping $50,000 into it to get the way i would want it.if i was going to do that i would buy a used modena or something.
the NSX is one badass car though, dont get me wrong. it has the look of a $250,000 exotic car.
i want to stay reasonable though. just get the 3.0.. do a little of this and that to it..
again i appreciate everyones help. ive been to a few other message boards and just about everyone is an a-hole. they talk $hit to you if you are a new member or tell you that if you dont know anything about these cars then there is nothing you can contribute to the site and they ask you to leave.
anyway...thanks...

i have a good friends that lives in park city, UT with a 98 accord and i noticed the last time i went to see him that his passenger window would not go all the way up and it sounds like a machine gun when you try to roll it up.. you have to push it up with your hands...
i imagine something like that isnt too much to fix anyway...

The 3.0 cl has a weak tranny for adding power or driving aggresive. i would just pick up a 3.2 cl 6 speed if u can find one. they are a good deal for the $$$ now that the car is discontinued. and stock they run 14s easy. if u go in the 2nd gen forum there are people with turbo setups makin about 400hp!!!!! 600 seems unrealistic. also those same people with the custom turbo setup seem to be having alot of trouble using that power.

I have a 2.2CL and maybe its slow compared to other cars, but its definitely not too bad. Then again I do drive stick as well. My windows are a little slow, but other than that its a great car! I go to UCLA also, and I think she would love driving it.

i am Vice President of T&S Enterprise, a company that was started by myself and my brother 4 years ago. We mainly are an advertising agency, with 90% of our work overseas, which is why i am out of the country a lot. We also own several small business in the mid-southeast region of the country.Ive been in business for myself since i was 18 when i somehow slipped through the cracks and got a dealer account with ford motor company. i just lucked out and made a little bit of money and started investing, however, i am still working my ass off. Life just never gets easy. oh and i speak no foreign language which sucks because i have to have a translator with me everytime i go out of the country. This guy is so annoying, but he speaks 3 languages, which is really weird, i dont think this guy has much of a life.
