alternator dead at 100K

i was driving down I-95 on my way to ocean city and as soon as my odo. hit 100,000 my batter light came on, but clicked off about 5 secs later. stupidly i thought nothing of it. about 15 mins later my wipers started getting real slow, my abs light came on, and my power steering went out. my alt had died in the middle of rush hour traffic in the very left lane on the american legion bridge. luckily i had enough power to make it across and pull over to the shoulder. i got the car towed back to my house, left it there and headed down to OC. anyway, i just got back tonight and now im trying to put the new one in and its a pain in the ass. these cars have no room in the engine bay to work with, right now i wish i had an integra. my advice for anyone that ever has to replace theirs, take it to the dealership or have somebody else do it.

Sorry to hear about the dead alternator.

When I put in my 180-amp alternator, I removed the fan shroud. This made it a little easier to get the alternator out and the new one in.

Still, it was a pain in the ass!

That sucks!!!!!!!!

I had to replace mine a couple months ago and it is a pain to replace. Lot of parts to remove to have enough room to work. Don't try to do it by thinking you may be able to slide it inbetween this and that. Just take off everything thats in the way. It makes it easier.

I got mine from this dude: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2415698899 However, I only paid $149.00!

Before installing this alternator, my lights would dim everytime the AC kicked in (with my 1400 watt amp, lights on, AC on, etc). After installing the 180-amp alternator, no more dimming!

I'm not sure what amp the stock alternator is.

I believe our stock is 100 amp. I bought from the same dude. Excellent customer service, but the damn thing didnt work in my car. I went through two of his alternators and installed it myself and it always seemd to lose charge then die.

After being w/o a car for a month, I broke down and had Honda take a look. They said it was the new alternator. WTF?!?! SO I had them install a factory brand new one. $450 later parts and labor it worked. They dont know why.

I feel like I got hosed somewhere, just dont know why. Anyway, those guys on ebay were great and gave me a refund.

So anyway, I tried to save a buck for a bigger alternator and ended up paying more in the long run. So atleast the stock one is not giving me any dimming.....YET!! So good luck to all. Im really curious to see if someone buys from this guy and it works on their 3.0 Let me know what you did....Thanks.
