alarm headlight flash

Two quick questions I didn't see after searching:

When I arm/disarm my alarm, for some reason my front headlights will not flash... the rear lights do, however. Any ideas?

Also, whats the deal with the car locking itself automatically after 30 seconds? Is there a way of disabling this?

Thanks!

Depends on the alarm you have. It sounds like you have an after-market alarm. You need to take it back to the person who installed the alarm and have these revisions made. You can have it so the alarm activated in 30 seconds but the doors wont lock.

It used to have an aftermarket alarm, but it was exceedingly annoying as it would arm the car as soon as the DOOR closed. I ripped that piece of crap out as soon as I could. Now I have the stock hooked up and, as you can tell, it's mostly working. Perhaps this can shed some light on the problem?

The harness may not be wired completely. You say there was an aftermarket alarm on it. Make sure there were no modifications made to the alarm harness. As for the re-arm, that is a programed feature. I am not sure if there is a veriable resister that controls it or if it is a programable feature. But definately a nice feature if you forget to lock your car.

Yea that would be the first logical thing to check. I'll do that as soon as a I get chance.

I'll try to take a pic if I can. Or at least explain what was wrong so you can reproduce it if you like :-)

the stock alarm will relock the doors if you don't open them, assuming you unlocked them via the clicker. On the note of hids, does anyone know how to rewire that so that the headlights don't flash? I was just wondering if there was something easier then digging into the alarm harness and clipping those wires.

Im getting an aftermarket alarm and when the panic goes off, I definitly dont want my HID's flashing like you side. Instead of just clipping the wire to the headlights, is it possible to just run that wire to the highbeams, so the highbeams will flash and not the headlights??

(sorry...im just clueless when it comes to electrical & wiring)

yeah thats possible to do. just get a shop manual with the wiring schematics and re wire the relay to the high beams instead of the lows. they are both a positive trigger, so it shouldnt be hard to figure out.

with HID's, high-beams usually activate the low-beams, which are HID's... just rewire it so parking lights go off

Same here. Im about to get a 2 way pager alarm and I dont want the headlights to flash when the alarm goes off cuz i have HIDs. Anyone know how its connected so I can tell my installer to disconnect the headlight flashing and reconnect them to the highbeams. (id rather have the highbeams flash)
