Aiming Headlights !!

Hi Hi,
The manual says we are supposed to aim the headlights based on the gauge we see on our car, and adjust them to "0" right ?? But somehow the beam patterns are not balance for each side. In other words, both beam cutoffs are not the same in height. One is lower, and one is higher. Has anyone experienced this on their CL ??

yeah, mines the same way... they give you certain guidelines to go by, like a full tank of gas and someone in the drivers seat... but that seems like a crock... cause mine are so out of wack that even with someone in the car and a full tank of gas on level ground, they still wouldnt be right. So I just park in front of a wall of somesort and aim them on the wall to get them at the same height.

I'm having the same dilemma! I follow the guidelines in the owner's manual, and the lights are "way" off! I think the drivers side light is not supossed to project as far in front of the car as the passenger side, but there seems to be like 6-8 feet difference!

I am so freakin' obsessed with this, that I almost went to the dealer and had them aim the beams (but I refuse to pay what they would charge me)!

Does anyone have a definitive answer as to how much difference there truly is between the lights?

Thanks!

Hey SumkidwithaCL,
How's your HID running ?? I just noticed that one of our members using the HID unit from Mercedes. Don't know exactly how he fit them into the 9006 sockets, but like compare the results though.

sooo i know this is an OLD ass post and ive been searching for an answer, i swear. But i aim my headlights and it seems like they either get too low or too high...i have to keep test driving it to see. the bubble in the little ruler looking thing on top of the headlight is supposed to be in the middle? I dont know Im just used to all the other cars having a definitive cutoff. Is there something to add so that cars like ours can have this cutoff line? (thats arent projectors?)

No projectors or H1R bulbs = no real cutoff. But you should have that bubble in the middle for it to be correctly aimed in most cases.
