that didnt take long
yeah, 87 mark III NA
the only mods to it now are a K&N intake and some crazy muffler, along with the american racing rims. The exhaust note is beautiful, but itll have a full pace setter system eventually
Also the hood should probably be color matched, the paint started to oxidize so the guy who owns it now sanded and primed it. the body is flawless, one small 2" spot of rust on the right quarter along with some faded clear coat. Bumper needs to be resprayed as well, but nothing that turns me away from it.
110k original miles, but the entire drivetrain was rebuilt ~5k ago, including metal gaskets, complete hot tank and plane of the head, new valve stems and seals etc. this guy didnt cut corners.
Not to mention it has TEMS and grippy ass seats

I didn't want to use red text because to me any sporty car that is automatic is missing the excitement pedal and shifter. ( excluding sporty cars that are owned with tiptronic, that is useful if you live in an area prone to bumper to bumper traffic.)

I had a 89 NA back in high school and my bro had an 89 Turbo both were the same color we cruised in a pair around town was pretty cool at the time (Charcoal)
The TEMS is cool the car had some neat tech for the time and and I love the seats you could adjust them until they were squeezing you.
I was going to warn you about the head gaskets (major problem on those cars) but it looks like you're good to go with the rebuild.
We still have one of them sitting under a tarp that's dead at my parents.

I know, non turbo, automatic. but the rebuild that this guy has done including torquing the head down to the proper 72 ftlbs makes this essentially a brand new car. I wouldnt trust a 7mgte after 22 years to start tuning, but this thing is the perfect platform. as for the autotragic, can be swapped for sub 400$.. 200$ for the trans, another 200 for miscellaneous parts and a weekend with a friend of mine and voila. (if anyone here is from DE and has heard of JTUNE, my buddy Nuri is a master tech there, hes building a supra as well as we speak and would help me out with the hook up) Trust me, I thought this through before I dropped the axe.
in 2 years it qualifies for classic plates in CT which drops insurance down dirt cheap and allows me to no longer have to worry about emission too!
As for the turbo side of things.. id rather build it NA, then add a turbo later and have to worry about rebuilding the engine before tuning it. plus the only difference between the 7mge and 7mgte is the exhaust cam has a different cycle. but this is all just how my mind works at least. Reliability > initial Speed.
from one of the initial emails.. this guy has every single receipt, a stack about an inch and a half think for the work hes done.

Felpro headgasket torqued to the correct 72ft/lbs using new factory Toyota head bolts. Head was then retorqed after 5 complete heat cycles per the TRSM manual.
New waterpump, timing belt, all external belts, cam seals, 24 valve head was completely stripped, hot tanked and block planed. Then.. the head was completely reassembled using all the reconditioned original parts (which were in excellent condition). New valve stem seals were installed at that time. Pistons and block were all in great shape. When the head gasket was done on this car it only had developed a small leak and never overheated.
Valve colors were painted red with gold lettering. Hard pipe from MAFS was also painted red.
New fuel injection O-Rings and cushions.
New thermostat, radiator cap.
Intake and exhaust manifolds were all completely reconditioned before reassembly
All work performed at 105K. I have receipts for everything.
K&N cold air intake system
American Racing custom 16" wheels
Brand new Potenza 16" tires. These are the widest tires that would fit and they don't rub at all. They have less than 2K on them.
New brakes all around
New hood struts.
New factory hatchback seal.

well, i figure itll cost me 300 in fees and taxes, which leaves me with 900. 600 is automatically going to savings, ill buy some paint to respray the bumper (30$ or so..) so with the 270 left ill start collecting parts for the manual swap, or maybe dump it straight into a 2.5" exhaust, i can get the full pace setter cat back for 280$ with free shipping.. soooo well see

well good luck! have something set up for transportation if it takes more than a weekend. there will be speedbumps, especially when your essentially fabricating something like this
