AEM V2 CAI Install
Anyone do an install of the AEM V2 on a First Gen (98 2.3 Auto)? Just wondering if it was difficult, and also where the CAI gets the air from (near the wheels, near radiator??)??? (Do you have to cut sheetmetal?)

I havent done a V2 but im sure its just like any other except its thinner near the TB. In the 2.3 the CAI filter is between the lower spash guard and the fender liner, where the stock airbox goes down. You're gonna have to take the fender liner out, but you shouldnt need to cut anything. I'm suprised you have so many posts but no CAI yet, but with that many posts im sure you knew all I just said.

don't take the whole fender liner out! Then mud and water sprays all over your air filter. Just do what i did, take a razor blade and heat it up with a lighter. It cuts the thin plastic like nothing, and then you just cut a small hole for the air filter to get some air. Just don't leave the side by the tire open.
Also xrunner might have meant just take the fender liner off to get the stock airbox out, and then put it back in. I had to do something like that, but other than that it's real easy. I'm sure you can figure it out.
I really wouldn't waste the money on the V2 though. JMO The difference in power isn't big enough to make any difference. Especially for the price.

take out ur turn signal lense and ull get some nice air flow. that's the cool thing bout the older civic si's if u dont have the oem fogs it vents right were the cai filter goes.
casper98 made cut the fender liner on the bottom and made an air duct under the car. you would have to devise a way to close it when raining to be safe. ur just askin to hit a nice puddle. especially if ur dropped

Ok....I'm sure CAI questions have been done to death but.......why are Ingen CAI's more expensive than AEM's....and why are AEM's more expensive than generic Ebay CAI's? After all, a 3" aluminum tube is a 3" aluminum tube. Aside from tube diameter, the only true variable is the filter element. In which case, most of you's change that anyways with K&N's. I just don't see the justification in Ingen prices except for the name.

A lot of the difference is because of the name brand and CARB approval. The filter used would also account for some of the price difference
