The tube has two different sizes, so they say it uses sounds waves to push more air into the manifold. Go to AEM.com and read up about it.

i have the AEM V2 on my 3.0 and i got the accord 98-02 V2. It sits down in the wheel well like a CAI. there is an oval hole in the engine bay on the 3.0 which allows the V2 filter to be placed behind the driver's side corner light

The V2 sounds great, and is better than the original AEM CAI. Ebay it.

the short ram has one size diameter piping and is "short"

the V2 has 2 different sized piping pieces welded together to create what AEM claims is an optimal air flow for producing more power than any other intake on the market, including its own original CAI. the AEM CAI is the V1. the V2 _IS_ a CAI, it's called "V2" for "VERSION 2".

I have the V2, and it's better than any other intake I've ever had. I've had the original AEM CAI, K&N, weapon R, generic intake, and Injen. All on different cars. Only intake I can't speak for is the Comptech.

Damn, thanks for the info . I was going to buy an AEM short ram, but now I think I'll wait and save up for the V2. Well, I don't know...the V2 is $100 more.

no problem man....I would wait for the V2 if I were you. AEM is basically calling it's own CAI "inferior" now that they have the V2 out. I was a little skeptical at first b/c of the price difference, but I have saved some gas money since I got it in February. I've averaged 2-3 MPG better with it. VXCL claims the same thing for his CL too.

Has anyone experimented with creating a duct to help air come through the hole from the engine bay to the fender? or Has anyone tried making a heat sheild for it?

no cuz its a lot easier to take out your right headlight.... lots of people at the track with short rams took out their headlight for direct air.. pretty good idea as far as daily driving situations its not going to make a difference.

you don't need to make a duct if you have a 3.0 and get the V2 it sits outside of the engine bay right by the splashguard behind the driver's side corner light, gets cool air
