advice on subs

alright so i can get subs at a good price
my brother has a qlogic bandpass box for two 12"s-- he has 2 Polk's EX i believe...

what price do you think would be fair for those? this is just for the parts $150 or $160?

i've never really payed attention to the installation threads on subs.. and i didnt know exactly what to search for.. i was coming up with threads that weren't helping

what do i need to do to install these? how much would it be if i took it to best buy or an audio store and had them install it??

can i keep my factory HU? or do i have to get a new one??

any other random information/advice that you think would help.. talk away

thanks

do you have a Bose head unit? if so then you've got two choices: get a new head unit (which is going to be better in the long run and sound better), or you can keep the factory bloze stereo. yeah, the new HU is gonna cost extra $$ but well worth it.

Which ever you're gonna need to do, post back up and we'll try and help ya out

If you get an aftermarket amp, you can keep the Bose h/u.

Aftermarket head units are better quality, but I kept mine for the "stealth" look (looks like a stock system to the average thief).

My system sounds great (Infinity speakers and JBL subs).

yea , i agree with dust... i'd like to keep the bose h/u .. less likely that someone will break into my car...

how would the set up go? hook up the aftermarket amp to the h/u? -- umm i'm new to car audio, so basics info is necessary-- thanks again

also i might be able to get an aftermarket h/u cheap-- my friend just got a new car and it came with an aftermarket h/u-- but he already has a really nice pioneer one.. he might sell it to me

oh yeah also-- how much do you think i should pay for the qlogic bandpass box and two 12" polk EX's?

Cant go wrong with JL Audio. I found 2 JL 12" subs, in a bandpass box for 160 at a local Pawn Shop. I had them tested of course to see if they worked, and they did. Best Deal ever, until i had to sell them. i suggest you scour Pawn Shops, you may find some deals, seriously.
