Acura CL car help/buy question
Hey guys what's going on...I might be financing a 1999 Acura 3.0 CL Coupe at a dealership....The price on it is $7,988...It has 91,429 miles on..I looked at it the other day and test drove it...Drove very smooth with a V6 in it and looked great...Just had a few blemishes on it but didn't bother me since I'm going to paint it anyway after the new year..The inside was almost perfect...Has the premium package and overall I liked it alot...The car only had 1 owner and I like that about it..I went for 3.0CL because my 2 cousins have the 3.2 TLs and my brother has a 3.2CL...I had to go the other direction and be different and I really liked the car alot..Here are some pics of the car so tell me what you guys think about it..Feel free to post your experience with your cars and if anybody knows where I can get different lights for it then post it up..Thanks in advance..You guys are always great when someone needs an opinion...

Sounds a bit high on the price side, considering by Sept. the prices traditionally will drop a bit more since the model year becomes older.
Keep in mind I've got the '99 2.3CL with the Prelude manual short shift mod, so I do enjoy the 1st-gen CL.
The 2.3L 4-cyl is strong enough for most daily usage, especially when adding a few mods like UR underdrive crank pulley, exhaust and other tweaks.
I would suggest staying away from the 3.0L 6-cyl with Auto -- since so many others have had problems with the Auto tranny dying out.
If you can swing it, consider buying a newer gen CL, and by all means go for manual tranny-- nothing beats stick.
Just my $0.02

I have never seen a 1st-gen CL go for that price anywhere. But you seem to be very impressed, but as diplomat and zguy said, the auto tranny on 1st- and 2nd-gen CLs (and TLs) are very prone to transmission problems. At 91K, the Tranny must have had at least one tranny replacement or rebuild, apparently very recently judging by the price and the smoothness of the car. get a manual if you can, but if you really like the car, go for it.

Doesn't matter if you take it easy or drive it crazy, the just like to go out on their own. I would highely suggest a tranny cooler install as soon as you purchase.

It mounts to the front of your radiator. You take off the return line on the transmission, run it to the cooler, and run the new hose back the the return plug on the radiator. It further cools the tranny fluid after it comes out of the the radiator, thus keeping your tranny from becoming too warm.

They are universal, you can use them on manuals too as far as I know, all they do is connect to the 2 tranny lines, coming in and out of the radiator and tranny. I used this diy guide to do mine.

Install is very simple, remove tranny line, route to front of rad, mount cooler, connect line from tranny to cooler, use line provided, cut to length and run from cooler to line on radiator. Don't need to mess with return lines.

And it's just a more heavy duty version it doesn't have to be for racing. It looks nicer too.
The cheaper "tubulur" design just looks in my opinion. And doesn't cool as well
