Hello all, Glad to find this forum page. It has been alot of help so far. I just bought a 98 3.o CL. It has 144000 miles on it. It has gold emblems on it, and is a silver/purple paint.
1st question. Do I have a car that only 500 were made?
2nd. How can I tell if the transmission has been replaced or fixed?
3rd. Have a Check engine light. Dealer says it is because the EGR valve. Does this cause low gas mileage and is it ok to drive.Is there a recall for it.
4th. Why are the low beams so (DARK, Not brite)
5th. Is the vtec motor have a kinda whine to it, at low rpms?

The whine could be several things, dark headlights and a whine. This is an issue with the alternator. If the car has 144,000 you need to make sure the timing belt and water pump were changed, and if the whine is your alternator, it is a comon failure at around 95,000, so you got quite a bit of life out of that one. A quick way to tell, do your lights get brighter when you rev, and does the whine go away at that time as well? If so, get ready to shell out around $150 for the alternator with a $30 core charge and prolly $50 for labor. As for the timing belt, it will run around $80 and the water pump will cost around $65, labor depends on the shop... $125 - $300.

for the egr port, call Acura's customer service number and they'll check your VIN to see if you qualify for the extended warranty. If you do, get it done asap, it'll cost you nothing but waiting time.
