Exclamation Alright all you DDMers, I got a question.

So as most of you guys know, I am working on a retrofit with TSX projectors but have no more income so money is super tight right now. I have a meet this week and really need a cheap, atleast semi-reputable d2s hid kit that is under $100 that can ship in less than a week by the 28th. I came across the DDM hid kit that I wanted but with 3 day shipping would be over $100. I found the "Raptor brand" hids on their site and wanted to know if anyone has tried or heared good things about them.

http://www.ddmtuning.com/products/Ra...it-102-85.html

BTW, Would I need a wiring harness or something? I heared some kits don't include them.

cuz fred probably wants to put his retrofitted projector headlights on his car finally and for the meet, and there wouldn't really be a point in them without the actual hid's in them.

Yup, that's why.

I was just making sure that no one has had any problems with the 'Raptor brand'. I'm gonna buy it tomorrow unless someone has had a problem with them.

I can find you a good full kit for around $300 a $100 kit without relays isn't going to work, and yes you will need the wiring harnesses with relays as well, just save your money

^if he wanted to just buy an hid kit to throw in.
he would've said he was looking for a 9006 conversion kit.
doesn't make sense that he'd buy d2's and rebase them just to hold him over untill his projos are done

Question advice!

so i just bought the raptor kit off of DDM tuning. (35W 5000K, 9006 base)

i wanted to know if installation is anything too difficult for a n00b. I've installed my own stereo, speakers, foglights, as well as other peoples neon underglow and that type of stuff....

Also, the ballasts need to be mounted on something right? i have a '97 2.2 CL, does anyone have a recommendation on how\where to secure the ballasts?

Finally, do i need to change any fuses? add any resistors? or anything special i need to know? it seems like its just plug (screw) n' play, right?

If you've done all that other stuff, HID's should be no problem. The only issue I had was with one of the plugs being wired backwards, which can be fixed by flipping the plug around, obviously. Install took me a whole 10-15 minutes.

My kit came with double sided tape, so I'm assuming yours will too.

Still got to arrange the wiring better, but you get the picture.

if you're looking for a speedy delivery, dont count on DDM.
i bought mine during the summer, even then it took me 3 weeks to get them. and i still hear it isnt getting any better because of their high volume sales.

but so far i've been hearing good reviews on the raptor ballasts. i have the DDM ballasts, and they're awesome. i didn't use the double sided tape, they're small enough to just use a few zipties.

Guess I got lucky on the whole delivery thing. Ordered mine last Monday and got them on Friday with ground shipping. Even called and had the order changed from 55w to 35w.

So your saying that these wont work without a relay? It does come with a harness.

Why is the clear screw retainer still on the harness? I assume you just hadn't taken it off yet?

^lol i was gonna ask that, same with the rubber stopper thingy that holds all those groups of wires. i cut mine off so i could route the wires exactly where they needed to be, and tuck the rest
and i think you shoulda tried to cut that double sided tape, looks kinda ghetto to have that much past the sides on the ballasts

^i didn't have to break mine, you just pull all the wires and the rubber thingy through the hole in the plastic piece
Although we do have different kits, so it might have been a little different for yours

That's what the instructions said to do, but everything was already hooked together so it won't pull through.

How do I adjust my headlights? Also, how do I upgrade my lights to projectors. I think my 97 2.2 cl has reflectors. Is it possible? Is it easy?

Look in your owners manual for specifics.
you could mod your headlights with projectors but it's not easy. If your a perfectionist at least. Most of my time and work was in 4 different backings that I had to find and cut. Finaly settled on one and everything is looking clean and just how I wanted it.

Check out this page for some info on my projector retrofit.

^ahh ic, i thought the connections on your ballast were a little different than mine.
but if you want to you could cut away that rubber thing that holds all the wires together
then you can tuck all the wires individually without having a big jumble of them alltogether
makes it look a lot cleaner IMO, i did that when i ziptied everthing out of the way

@ ghettoninja

can i just BUY new projector headlights that fit the CL? modding is fun, but the perfectionist inside me wont settle for a less than perfect job, but the lazy fat@ss inside me doesnt wanna spend hours tweaking...

no, there isn't any made for our cars. and even if there was they'd probably have crappy projectors and not produce a whole lot of output.
you can see if there is places in your city that can do retrofitting for you, it will be expensive, but it usually is possible in most cities

im in Miami, FL. and whats the REAL benefit to projectors? can somebody take a second to explain? nothing too in depth but a little more than, "projectors give more light, and focus it better"

and whats 'retrofitting'? and what kind of store would do that? advanced\discount auto parts? or like some random dude who works at PepBoys? haha

PMed.

Retrofitting is the prosses of modding the projector in the headlight housing. All custom work.

Projectors are not only brighter and focus light better but they look freaking sexy.
