98 3.0 cl -- new tires and gear shift problems

( it was suggested i repost this in the firstgen forum. i had originally posted this in "cartalk" )

greetings.

i just purchased michelin pilot sports ( 205/55YR16 ) from tirerack.com that ill be putting on my 98 3.0 cl stock wheels. anyone running this same ( or similar configuration )? comments?

also. for the past few months ive had problems with my automatic gear shift not wanting to shift into gear. quite often i dont hear the "click" of the solenoid releasing the gear shift when i push the brake. so i end up using the manual gear shift release. ive taken my car to the local acura dealership twice, explained the problem to them ( and that its sporadic ), and they have returned my car to me both times without finding any problem. gary force acura has provided great service in the past but i think they should be able to diagnose some sort of problem here. any suggestions?

take care,

heath

Try changing the tranny fluid if it hasn't been done in a while. Or, if your car is still under warranty, tell the dealer you want a new tranny.

hes talking about the solenoid in the dash, that unlocks the shift lock when you press the brake to shift out of park.

I imagine it could be a loose wire, or the solenoid crapping out... i'm not really sure, I never heard of any problems with them.

Im sure you already know this, but the key has to be in the ll position and you have to press and hold the brake first, then shift out of park.

I dunno what else to tell you.

BTW- welcome to the board!

hey- i have a similar prob. my car feels like it is a manual and the driver suxs, the car jerks every gear it changes to, Not smooth at all-
I also took it to an acura dealership and they charged me around 400 bucks to do some tranny check- and it is still messed up.

also do you think they will give me problems b/c of my air intake???
