60k mile service... who's done it?

well... we've hit 60k miles on our cl.
my question is... how many of you have done this expensive service? and how many of you skipped it, or only did a few things?

on my old nissan... i just skipped it and changed the fluids.

however... i don't want to mistreat our cl.
but the dealership is basically overcharging on the 60k service.
is it worth it? $500-600?

i was only thinking of replacing the fluids....
how about the belts? check them too?
anything else? i will check the manual tonight or check acura's recommended services for the 60k mile mark.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

hi,

is it worth the large amount of money that acura charges???

NO.

i checked the manual and performed all required maintenance myself. i have 85k miles right now...the car runs the same as it did when i got it at 30k.

happy maintenance!

do as much as you can yourself - per owner's manual - and go out for a nice meal with the money you save.

If you're still under an extended warranty and do it yourself, just be sure to document everything getting done. But yea, not much to it and definately not worth $500

Mine will be here soon, and I agree, do most of it yourself, or have a friend ( Dustbuster4 ) help you and then you guys go out and enjy spending the savings. Document all of your work, then record it in your folder at Acura.com if you have a profile so it is documented, and save all of your recepits!!!

i forked over the 400 bucks to get the 60k check done just cause if i sell her in the next few years i want to have documentation that she had her ass wiped constantly by the dealer

but i'll add a question...anyone go for the 75k? I'm supposed to get that done this month and i think it's more extensive than the 60k... I'll post this in another thread too i guess...

thanks for the response guys.

i can think of many other ways of spending that money which
i would save by not going to the dealership.

if we do sell the cl down the line.... i hope the next owners
are not anal about the 60k mile service.

then again.... i do not expect us to sell the little coupe.

I went to a local Speedy Oil and had the radiator and the tranny flushed and fluids/filter replaced for $120. I have been told that the tranny is worth having the flush done rather than just drain and replace fluid and filter. They have a machine for this. Good peace of mind. My dealer wanted $368 for the 60K maintainance.
Along with an oil and filter change (Quaker Synthetic). I was only out about $170.

I got the 100k tune up and replaced the right front axle i snapped - 800.00 @ ACURA dealer in Orlando Florida - worth it cause i didnt have to get dirty!! hahaha (100k included new water pump too) That's too much boring work for me - i'd rather work on performance stuff than maint. stuff - ya know?

i'm not 100%sure what is required for the 60K in the 2.3... but I def won't spend the $$$ at the dealership for 60K... just do your oil change, filters and transmission flush..
