Angry 60k mile service turn up... should've DIY it

I took my car today to my brothers father-in-law's Automotive service shop that he owns.....

What has to be done.

Tune up Vehicle
$70.00
Replace spark plugs, spark plug wires,
distributor cap and rotor.

60,000 Mile Service
$35.00
Check brakes and make all necessary adjustments.
Brakes Good. Check Cooling System.
Cooling system needs to be serviced and thermostat replaced.
Check fan belts, C.V. Boots, exhaust, fluids, fuel lines and connections,
rack n pinion boots, steering and suspension. Recharge A/C System.

Service Cooling System
$70.00
Drain cooling system. Remove thermostat and flush cooling system.
Install new thermostat and gasket. Refill cooling system and recheck
for leaks. Check thermostat and cooling fan operation ok.

Parts used in labor

Distributor Cap
$23.46

Ignition Rotor
19.04

Spark Plug Wire Set
$73.40

Spark Plug
$12.00

Thermostat & Gasket
$11.30

Anti-freeze Coolant
$15.00

Freon
$25.00

What I have learned....

Pros:My car feels like I just bought it from the dealer. I feel power that I have never felt since I bought the car. Blah Blah Blah.....

Cons: it cost me 368.96 FUCKEN DOLLORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with labor AND parts

Next time I am DOING IT MYSELF!!!! expect a DIY on the complicated stuff listed here.

my car's at almost 70k now and i don't know when was the last time the car got serviced... my sister had it before i got it at 55k.. think she's had it serviced at 45k.

Should i maybe do a service now? what needs to be changed? oh yea, the car's got mostly freeway mileage maybe 90%.

hmm... if you havent taken it to a mechanic since you recieved it, I think you should go get it serviced. After tune up you'll definitely feel the difference.

just use the information used here to guide you on the 60k mile tune up cuz that $300 blah blah went down the drain for my drop kit!!!!

im not good at saving money.....

i just got quoted for $525 for my 60k service....does that seem unreasonable? Anyone else in chi-town area had the service done lately or anyone anywhere with where they got it done and price.

60k mile service means its done at every 60k mile interval.. so first at 60k, then 120k, then 180k etc...
