3rd party warranties.. help?
3rd party warranties.. help?
ok so i got this warranty with my car in june.. im looking to drop my car this winter break but my mom says new shocks/springs will void my warranty.
the only thing i found about this in the contract is:
What is not covered
4e: Altered or customized vehicles beyond factory specification, included but not limted to, oversized tires, suspension or frame kits.
does this mean i cant do sqaut to my car for 3 more years? there must be a way around this.. help?

also, it says the parts on the suspension that ARE covered are only these:
"SUSPENSION: Upper and lower control arms, Upper and lower ball joints, Leaf and coil springs (IF BROKEN), Weel Bearings and Spindles"

I believe it means that they wouldnt warranty your suspension if any part of it was modified. so if your tranny goes that should be covered. but i haven't seen the rest of contract. best thing to do is call up the warranty company and ask them and get proof if they tell u it wont void warranty, just in case later on they say otherwise.
How do you make a warranty claim? I don't see how the warranty company would know you car is dropped unless your mechanic makes the claim directly with the warranty company and tells them. In which case, he likely won't tell because he wants his money.
I had an extended service contract I got from the acura dealer... it was from a third party company. If I was afraid they wouldn't warranty the item, I would go to my local garage and they could bill the dealership (a hassle to orchestrate), or I would pay it and the dealership would reimburse me.
Once I broke a strut mount going over pothole, likely exacerbated by the fact my car was lowered. I just went to the garage to have them fix it, they never mentioned to the dealer it was lowered

ya my mechanic is pretty cool bout it.. he told them my timing belt was cracked so theyd pay the new one instead of me.. its just he hates lowering cars.. he thinks every car you lower fucks w/ the tires.. hes like never lower it your tires will die.. just bc some dumb kid that goes to him with is accord slammed doesnt have the proper camber or whatever n replaces his tires every 6months bc the inside gets chewed on is not my problem.. i just gotta convince my mom that it will be ok.. if i call i dont want hem knowing im ognna put new stuff on it they might take a note to that
My friend *never* rotated the tires on his '97 CL and wondered why he went thru like 3 sets in a little over a year. Even without dropping your car, you need to rotatete them regularly - the CL has a fairly negative factory camber setting even without dropping your car.
I have Eibach Pro-Kit, Eibach camber kit front/rear, and KYB AGX struts and my Bridgestone Turanza LS-H's are wearing perfectly. I religiously rotate them every 6,000 miles - have a sticker on the windshield right next to the oil sticker.

thanks brohem im juts debaiting whether or not to call the warranty company and ask or not.. i dont want them to know but ya that tire problem would not happen with me i would take care of it.
I have warranty through Carmax and i have the 1" drop from eibach and they havent told me anything, Infact they even changed my shocks because they were blown.
I dropped my car thinking that if anything happened only the suspension part of the warranty would be voided but as i started thinking they can practically blame anything on the fact that you dropped your car and put bigger wheels....for example, if they feel like being a pain in the ass....
TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING
They can say that the oversized tires are causing a strain on the transmission which was engineered to work with a certain wheel/tire size.
RADIO MALFUNCTIONS (this happened to a friend of mine)
Radio is not working properly due to a harder ride after factory spec suspension were replaced.
I havent had a problem but who knows...
