3.0 Tranny Warning Signs? Anyone?
Hi guys, I hope someone's got some hard data on this:
I just picked up my 3.0 CL last week and love it, but remember something about tranny problems while reading posts prior to my picking up the car. I went out to grab some Super Bowl munchies and drove for the first time tonight without the stereo on.
When accelerating away from a stop sign, I noticed that the car decelerates for a split second while in-between gears, from 1-2 and from 2-3. I wondered if this was normal, is it? Or is the car supposed to accelerate completely smoothly with no noticeable lurching at all? My dad has a GS400 and you can't even tell when the car changes gears, so I wondered if the Acura is supposed to do the same, or -GULP- that I might have a tranny problem in the mail.
I noticed something else: when stopped in the garage, I heard a "CLACK" sound when moving the shifter from D4 to Park. I played with it a few times, moving it from D4-N-R and then back again, and it seemed to make the noise consistently.
I have about 6 months left on the Acura warranty, should I be bringing it in to have them look at it, or am I just worrying over nothing?
Thanks again guys, cheers

Take the car to Erin Mills Acura and get tyrone (I think he still works there) to look at it. Even though he's a mechanic @ the dealership, he'll give you an honest answer!
