hey i was told that the 3.0's has some sort of tranny problem, so not to bother with nos turbos or whatever, tho i was only planning on doing intake, header, and exhaust. can someone tell me a little more about what i heard, thanks.

 

the automatic in the 3.0 seems to have a higher failure rate than most automatics. and it seems as if every person who has had a CL tranny go bad, is also a member of this forum. we seem to hear about someone's tranny going out once a month or two.


you're right about not putting a turbo on, you'd have to have a custom one made. i don't believe a company makes one for the 3.0 CL.

Also, think about adding a cooler, it will prolong the life of the transmission.

Prolonging mine will only get me past my 100,000 mi. warranty. I'm actually HOPING mine goes out before I run out (79,000). What am I to do?

It actually has the shifty weird feel that only makes me think mine's gonna go out some day. I drive it pretty mellow but am wondering if It's gonna' burn me ater my warranty runs out. That will Suck...........

 

hey okay mine has only 53k on it its a 1998 black 3.0CL premier, i plan on getting the cooler, the one off bmracing most likely the first one the supercooler, anyone know how much they range or does anyone have one available i live in central NJ so yeah. im doing an AEM intake, not sure on header, and possibly exhaust. do u think ill last past 100k i mean the cars in great shape, beautiful inside and out and the engine is beyond smooth and quiet. im just wonder, thanks for everyones help.

 

My 97 3.0 CL's auto tranny just died, I have had monor slippage since 32k and complained at the dealer during it's regular services and now at 50k with it slipping wildly Acura says too bad you're out of warranty & wants me to pay them 3200. I took it to an indipendant here in L.A. but think seeing as in 10 minutes I have found extreme evidence there is a major problem with these transmissions, that Acure should be responsible for it. Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't a transmission last beyond 50k? my 14 year old BMW 325ic has 60k & its tranny is fine.

Does anyone know of a contact at Acura or a group (already signed the petition) That can help me get my 1900.00 back, I am compiling onfo for small claims court but would prefer getting Acura to take care of it voluntarily. I really love this car but feel betrayed by Acura so there go my plans for a 2005 Acura.

i think Tranny's going out depends on the driver, if you abuse it alot racing and constant speeding unecessarily then it will blow. I dont think the once in a while race is going to do much.

 

my tranny is getting soooo bad..

1st to 2nd is like huge "CLUNK!" 2nd to 3rd slight clunk 3rd to 4th doesnt shift.. it takes a while to shift..

and worst of all!! when its on 3rd.. and im going about 2.5 to 3RPM's constantly.. it makes a pretty loud and rapid rattling noise.. its Soooo annoying!!

i have a feeling my tranny is gonna die in a few months.. or maybe a month

 

I dunno Im at 146129 on my 97 3.0 and I drive it like there is no tomarrow and all I get is a huge jolt from 3rd to 4th

 

huge jolts in an auto tranny are never good, that's what happened to mine before it went up.
