2.2 vs 2.3

What is the differnce between a 2.2CL and a 2.3CL, besides the .1 liter of course? Is there a big performance difference?

according to consumer guide the acura cl (first gen, four cylinders)engine specs are as following-

Year-1997 Engine/size *liters and cubic inches*-ohc I4 2.2 / 132 Horsepower and torque-145/147 Transmissions/mpg *city/hwy*-5-speed manual: 25/31 4-speed automatic: 23/29

Year-1998-1999- Engine/size *liters and cubic inches*-ohc I4 2.3 / 137 Horsepower and torque-150/195 Transmission/mpg *city/hwy*- 5-speed manual: 25/31 4-speed automatic: 23/29

Now if someone didnt notice that something was wrong look at the rated torque on the 98 and 99 engines. If there was that much of a torque advantage im sure you could call it a big or bigger performance difference. Unfortunatly, it was a error, because on the 98-02 accord that same exact engine, the torque was rated at 152.

according to honda
f22b1 2.2 SOHC VTEC 145hp 147lb tq
f23a 2.3 SOHC VTEC 150hp 152lb tq

depending upon what f23a u have power varies due to emission equip. some are ulev(ultra low emission vehicles)

also 98+ cls only came in premium, no cloth interior. and ur center console is nicer. u got orange needles, but the lettering is diff. 2.3 premiums should weigh a little more than a base 2.2.

i would say it would be dead even. the condition of the powertrain would determine it.

Read it slower man, thats the displacement of the engine in cubic inches. I think you got that mixed up w/ the horsepower.

I've owned an f22b on my 96' accord and now i have a f23 on my 98' accord.. from my experience i've found that the f23 has a little more push from its higher torque .. although the 96' had the lighter chassis than my 98 accord .. i still feel that my 98' could've taken out my 96' w/ AEM cold air, DC header, tanabe exhaust, and magnacor wires .. also both are OBDII .. . I bet if you could find a stock HP reading from an f22b vs. an f23 .. the f23 would probably have a better HP and Torque band ..
