1st Gen Brake Rotors need to be pressed out of the hub??? T or F?
I bought pads and rotors for a DYI... I couldn't get the damn screws off the rotor and nearly stripped it so I decided to just have it done.
I'm calling around some places, some are quoting me $160 for both front and rears, and some places are quoting me over $300. The places that are quoting over $300 say that the rotors need to be pressed in and out of the hub in order to be replaced.
Is this true??? If this was true, I would find it hard to believe they would use screws on the rotors.

Yea, unfortunately its true. Since you have a 97 your going to pay more for the fronts. Mine are warped to shit, I get a foot massage everytime I press on the brake.

you need 98-99 hubs and rotors... get the 97 hubs and rotors out and press the new hubs in, then mount the new rotors to your new hubs. Easy as hell.
As for the screws holding the rotor... just drill the heads off and pull the rotors off... once the rotors are off you can grind down the remaining screw. The screws are really not needed.

i did it, costly but worth it
Actually, the 98-99 hubs are a LOT cheaper than the 97 ones... $35 versus $135-$150. Rotors should be around the same price...
